The headline misses the point completely. The protestors themselves were calling for body cameras because if the there is no oversight over the corrupt police force.

I worry that these cameras can be disabled at opportune moments, and enabled at will a moment later. If they are tamper proof fine, otherwise they are useless to protect the public from police extremism.
Yeah, Iâm guessing they will work fine when a cop is attacked but will suddenly âfailâ when a cop attacks an innocent civilian. And, of course, there will be an âexplanationâ and a quick move to find the cop did nothing wrong.
On a more serious note, I hope there is some kind of time code recorded on these devices and that all devices in use have the same. This would help in the case when there is a camera failure, induced by someone or not, and other cops nearby have operating cameras. It will be crucial to proving any case, no matter who the perpetrator is, if multiple cams can be synced to get a true picture of what actually happened.

I think you are naive. The presence of cell phone cameras hasnât stopped them from threatening to kill people, or harassing journalists.
Body cams on the refs have really helped improve the calls in international Cricket. Maybe it will help here to.
