Discussion: Feinstein Says There's More That Senators Don't Know About Kavanaugh

Feinstein:

There’s more senators don’t know about Kavanaugh

So what the fuck are you waiting for? You want to get him confirmed before you tell us?

I really don’t get this ā€œstrategyā€ … in fact it almost seems that she wants him confirmed

yeah there’s a couple ways to interpret that message.

One is I have some additional surprises in my possession so stand by for heavy rolls.
Another is you fuckstick-rethugs haven’t released but 10% of the documentation so spill you bastards.

I’m guessing more of the latter perhaps?

there’s more that senators don’t know.

They don’t care.

FWIW, one objection I always had to the Anita Hill thing was that it began with an accusation made by someone who wanted to remain anonymous. It’s harsh but honest – why make it at all? I thought the Democratic staffer who talked to Hill should have closed her notebook and replied: if you won’t be identified in public, this conversation is over – for YOUR sake. You can’t charge a SCOTUS nominee with something like this and remain anonymous – period. But instead, she took Hill’s story – and Democrats leaked it to the media: ka-BOOM.

So I want to speak up for Feinstein. She accepted that Ford wanted to keep her name out of it, until Ford changed her mind. He said/she said IS precisely how this should be resolved, with Senators voting whom they believe.

BTW – being Democrats, they are missing the key vulnerability in Kavanaugh’s defense, that the other guy Ford said was in the room (Mark Judge), ALSO needs to be called as a witness and put under oath. He will say that he doesn’t recall the incident.

Then he should be asked about his memoir of being a blackout drunk in high school AND – under the penalties of perjury – what being a blackout drunk means.

There is more that senators do not know mainly because they do not want to confirm p*resident fartspray’s leg humping nominee with the public aware of how twisted Kavanaugh is. They will not know more until the public learns more and they are finally forced to acknowledge that information.

If they can’t stop this abomination nomination, they sure can lay some solid groundwork for making his place on the court very tenuous.

The panel’s ranking Democrat, California’s Dianne Feinstein, is rejecting that plan, saying there’s more that senators don’t know.

The pattern with these things is that when one courageous lady comes forward… it acts a incentive for other victims to find their voice.

The odds of this being a ā€˜one off’ are small. My impression is that if one of these ā€˜masters of the universe’ types allows themselves to act out their repressed rape fantasies then they will let it happen again.

I disagree. Drip, drip, drip. Let him dangle. She will let it be known but she is setting it up and letting Orrin Hatch and Grassley and McConnell know they are in for more shit.

Somewhat off topic, having gone to the Jesuit junior high-high school in Puerto Rico during the late 60s to early 70s, I remember that the Jesuit Superior General during my entire time and for about a decade after was a medically trained Basque Jesuit ,Pedro Arrupe. He was anti-Franco, was on the very liberal end of the Church, and supported Theology of Liberation in Latin America from it’s earliest expressions (by Maryknoll Priest Gustavo Gutierrez of Peru). Arrupe coined a phrase for what he perceived the mission of Jesuit schools (traditionally all male schools, the historically recent Cristo Rey Academies are co-educational) and their students’ extracurricular activities providing tutoring and other social work services to the disadvantaged should be ā€œHombres para los demasā€ (Men for others.).

During his confirmation hearing, I read in the WaPo that Brett Kavanaugh, who has spent his entire adult life as a the most craven GOP partisan, pursuing his agendas and huge ambitions (he was on Kenneth Starr’s staff and believed in checking Presidential power until he worked for the Bush Admin and arrived at the conclusion that Republican Presidents should be free from accountability for even criminal conduct) responded to a committee question that (having gone to Georgetown Prep, a Jesuit HS), he had always lived his life by the creed, ā€œMen for others.ā€ Kind of made me puke.

I’m guessing that he interprets that to be ā€œmen for other men like themselves,ā€ sort of like the founding fathers meant that all white men with property were created equal.

That goes double for Thomas, and especially Gorsuch.

Now I’m reading that both Flake and Corker are calling for a delay of the vote, with Flake saying they need to hear Ford. If they stick to that it’s the most consequential thing I can remember either of them doing in thwarting an action of the administration.

I don’t get the vituperation against Feinstein. She held up her end of the bargain with a witness who was understandably reluctant to come forward publicly. And look where we are: Kavanaugh is in ever-deeper trouble and the GOP is starting to show cracks and going wobbly on him. At that psychological moment she suggests the Democrats have more cards to play. Like the Wicked Witch says, these things must be done delicately, or you hurt the spell. Partisans on our side always want maximal conflict, but that can stiffen opposition counterproductively, where sometimes it’s more effective to casually suggest it’s the other side’s funeral if they want to go forward.

There is a Cristo Rey school in Chicago. It’s amazing. Ignatius High School alumni (who are bigley rich and powerful in the city and state, Madigan, Daley’s, etc.) put it in place, fund it. It is doing great work they are proud of it too.

Both attempted rape and perjury are serious crimes. BK has become a suspect of both acts. I can’t see how this moves forward until an investigation resolves this. Both Flake and Corker can spike this nomination until McConnell does what they want. Give the timing and the likely turnover of both Houses to the Dems, i don’t see how this nomination survives.

Further, if the Dems take over the Senate, they will be well justified in blocking ALL judicial nominations from proceeding until Jan. 2021 by the Merrill Garland travesty. What goes around, comes around.

Much more and the history is deep…Brett already lied inhis current hearings and the ones for his confirmation before…

No more of this…

The big question is why was a guy with a questionable history even put up for nomination?

Why Trump wants to fight this is clear-birds of a feather flock together.

As for Feinstein, she did nothing wrong. When someone tells you something in confidence, you keep it-simple as that. You can urge them to go public, but it’s their call, not yours.

If they are going to do it the Mark Judge and other possible witnesses including evidence from the group therapy and previous statements showing this is not a recent development need to be entered in. The witness not being anonymous changes everything. I just hope the poor woman can hold up through the hell she will need to walk through for her country. I also hope the nation will see the Republicans again uncloaked as the vile hypocrites they can be if they behave toward her as I suspect they shall. While ultimately there is no physical evidence in this case, there is now a strongly reputable accuser, evidence of the accusation dating back 6 years that can be verified, evidence of it causing lasting harm, and a possible witness.

I still fall back on there was plenty to not confirm him without this. It is shameful that Republicans could not find the honor to stand against Trump or their party. Maybe some sex will motivate them. It seems to be the only thing that really does.
