Discussion: Feds Probe Influence Of Flynn's Turkey Lobbying On Military Decisions

Flynn is a traitor, plain and simple. Flynn put his own monetary gain in front of US national interests.

25 years in a supermax federal prison should do him well.

“Traitor” is a casual word that can be thrown about with some recklessness, whereas “treason” is extremely narrowly defined.

There are a lot of traitors in this administration, I think, but we can use stronger language with Michael Flynn. IANAL, but I think his alleged actions very literally fit the Constitutional definition of treason.

Let’s use the strong language with this one.

As Josh stated earlier this week, this man’s decisions affected an untold number of peoples’ lives. His treasonous ass should be put away for a very long time.

The degree of self-sabotage in the Trump White House is staggering

But Republicans love the death penalty. Why deny it to them just because it’s one of their own?

And lock his son with him for good measure.

Lock who up, general?

On of these days Trump is going to resign and say “I was just trying to figure out what it will take for republicans to turn on someone that promises tax cuts for the rich and a shafting to the poor”

I wonder if anyone in the military chain of command knew about Flynn’s financial arrangement with Turkey at the time, but kept mum.

Military justice is a hell of a thing. Good luck, pal.

Traitor anyone?

McClatchy revealed this week that Flynn put a hold on a military operation against the Islamic State that involved arming Kurdish forces—a move Turkey opposed.

How did this one man make this happen? It’s just so f’ing bizarre.

Good. This is what Trump calls a “good guy,” and when we finally get to use “traitor” without hyperbole.

What’s weird is that even that Turkey thing has ties to Russia. I guess the Dutch company that hired Flynn is owned or run by a Russian oligarch closely connected to Putin. This shit never ends…Too many connections to Russia.

Like they always say…especially with this bunch…follow the money.

There are only six possible explanations for why Mike Pence has gone out in front of the American public and repeatedly given false information about Flynn (repeatedly), Comey, and other topics:

He has knowingly lied
He was kept of the loop with his knowledge to give him deniability
He was kept out of the loop without his knowledge to give him deniability
He was kept out the loop because Trump needed a stooge
The communication channels in the campaign team and White House are slipshod; to wit, those who need to know, don’t.
He is an incredibly incurious, dangerously incompetent man

Pence seems bright enough. A lack of curiosity is unlikely.

The idea that as head of the Trump transition team he would not be naturally informed about material relevant to the appointment of Flynn to one of the most important posts in the White House that others in the administration knew (his Turkish agent work) is at the very least testimony to incredible sloppiness. It leads to the question, “How many other compromised individuals are currently in sensitive posts because of such sloppiness?”

Because we have seen sequenced layers of defenses across the administration when found out - false, just joking, discredit the source, other people have been even worse, …, the slipshod defense quickly falls apart.

If Pence was repeatedly used as a stooge or kept out of the loop without his knowledge again and again, any self-respecting person would have resigned, unless Trump has something on him. I will not be surprised to learn that Trump has something on everyone who works for him.

We have narrowed the possibilities to two. Either one disqualifies him from holding office.

There is something terribly sinister afoot that Mueller will now examine thoroughly for evidence of criminal behavior. But we also need a 9/11 type commission as well because this attack on our country, as hard as it was originally to believe, is even worse. Democracy itself is endangered and we must protect ourselves against assault from the outside, from the inside, and from a combination of the two.

I think he may very well resign early if things start to look too sticky for him…and I think Pence anticipates this, or has already been given the heads up in some way.

The author of tRumpf’s Art Of The Deal said as much himself the other day, knowing how much tRumpf can handle emotionally. He may just decide to walk away from it all in order to preserve whatever ‘empire’ he believes he has left and not feel like a LOSER…which is the biggest of all no-nos for a person like tRumpf.

I’m starting to think the Turkey thing could bring these guys down quicker than the Russia thing, because it seems more cut and dried. There was a clear transfer of money (not even hidden through shell corporations) and a clear benefit from that money-the halting of arms to the Kurds. In Russia’s case the benefits they got are more speculative. Flynn is a rookie at this game by comparison to Drumpf and didn’t have in place the structures to hide behind. And Erdogan is every but as bad as Putin-add in the beatings of demonstrators in DC.

Yes. Lots of traitors, but treason? Must have actively waged war against the U.S. or adhered to or given aid and comfort to “our enemies” which suggests an enemy with whom the U.S. is actually at war, not merely adversarial to American values/interests. Sounds like we need new laws to address the age of the Internet and cyber security, if we do not already have them.

Flynn certainly fits as a potential Russian asset, as he was a disgruntled (read crazy) former Intel chief who was fired, about whom Obama warned Trump. Why was he fired? Do we know? Sounds like his failure to file as a foreign agent and disclose this fact put him in position to harm American military interests in the worst way possible, and he should be locked up for that alone.
