a) As soon as I saw it was something shitty, and it had āLutheran schoolā I knew it was Wisconsin. The Lutherans there are almost as bad as Southern Baptists
b) Itās obviously a religious school. Last I heard you can get away with anything as long as you can justify it as a religious belief. Why are the feds bothering them?
But it would expel the filthy sinners with Christian love.
āI mean, [expelling them is] not the goal. The goal is to share with them Godās word.ā
And that word is: GOD HATES YOU, FILTHY LGBT SINNER! Have a good day!
So the parents must swear the enrolled children are heterosexual prior to their sexual development so that they can then be ādisciplinedā if a self-appointed religious critic disagrees with that later maturation? A maturation, I must add, that came about under the self-appointed criticās religious tutelageā¦
The schoolās pastor, Nick Maglietto, flatly told the News Republic that the school is ānot welcomingā to LGBT students.
Thank you for making that clear as day. Therefore, theyāre ineligible for Federal funding. Good bye and good luck.
Because they receive federal funding. You can be religious bigots, but then you canāt have public $$.
From the bottom of my heartā¦
āIn other words, although we do not have the right to refuse admittance to people choosing an outwardly sinful lifestyle, we do maintain the right to discipline and dismiss students for these choices."
Fine. Be that way.
But then thereās not such thing as a free lunch.
A religious school in Wisconsin
Nuff said.
Revoke the funding. I hope they fucking close their doors.
OH, FYI, weāve removed the LGBT fountains. Just sayināā¦
The controversy to me is that they get money to begin with. I donāt want my money going to spread diseases. No private school should get a dime of public money, ever.
The more the pious whine, the more we understand how it feels to be a squealing pig.
Wisconsin Synod is VERY conservative, then there is the Missouri Synod almost as conservative. These Synods are not limited to these states and are not connected to the more liberal Evangelical Lutheran Church in America. In the ELCA gays and lesbians are pastors and in some congregations gays and lesbians can marry.
Iām sure the state legislature here will jump at the opportunity to expand the private school voucher program they created and make up any deficit suffered by this school.
This is all part of an agenda by Christianists to reach into a taxpayers wallet, but deny certain citizens the services.
OK, a bit slightly outside of topic ⦠the Liberal Redneck is back on the Target boycott.
I just remember back in the day I dated a girl who was raised in the WELS. It took me a month to convince her to walk next to me, not behind me.
Probably under abuse as well as tutelage.
