Discussion: Feds Block Dakota Access Oil Pipeline Route

This is good news - and shows the importance of peaceful protest. Can this be undone by the Trump administration?

There should be a tweet any minute now…

Of course. It is just on hold, really, while other routes are explored.

Wait until 3 am. Then its open season on the cray again… :weary:

It’s on hold until Trump is sworn in, then he’ll direct, correction Bannon or someone else will direct Trump to direct, the Army Corps of Engineers to grant access.

No doubt Resident-Select Dumblefuck will order the Army Corps to let it go back through under the lake.

And of course this happened right around the time the veterans got involved. No one has the stones to go against people who served their country

If it was too risky to run near Bismarck it should be too risky to run near the tribal grounds. And I fully expect those job numbers are heavily inflated just like the job numbers were for the Keystone XL project.

I’m so glad. And I’m grateful to the veterans who stood up.

There are a lot of Native Americans in our military.

Good. Thanks to all the thousands who were out there, and especially to the veterans who held the line at the end.

For some reason I was reminded of this video. Maybe it was what I felt like doing when I read the news.

I don’t think the tribal peoples of America are going to be treated very well by the next President. (Not that many Presidents have ever treated them well.)

Maybe we can ask all these folks to camp out on the White House lawn come 1/20/17.

Yes but historically they do a bit better under Democratic administrations and you know the next one isn’t going to give a damn. I thought he had some sort of investment in the company building the pipeline.

Not good. Renzi has resigned.

He does, and somebody should sue him if he gets involved. Clinton vs Jones paved the way for that.
Meanwhile, expect “infrastructure” projects from Trump to feature using Eminent Domain to seize private property and hand it over to his investor friends.

I know.

Good news even though this will rankle Donald of Orange.

Trump’s first reaction: Who do those Native Americans think they are - real Americans who own the place? Give me a break, they’re tribes not corporations. And the vets who are supporting them - cut their VA benefits and revoke their citizenship. Not a single one of them in the 1%.

To be fair, he is the 41st Italian PM to resign since the end of WWII.
