Well, slap my ass and call me Hitler.
What is the propriety of a federal appellate judge offering such opinions in such a public forum? There is strong evidence to suggest that the Bush administration did indeed lie to the American people in order to sway public opinion towards the invasion of Iraq. Comments Bush made to Richard Clarke were amongst the first to establish that the administration wanted to link 9/11 to Iraq despite overwhelming evidence to the contrary.
For an appellate judge to immerse himself into this matter betrays his own prejudices which certainly color his decisions on matters before the Court.
Life-time appointment. Sigh
So calling Bush an unmitigated liar–who eventually joked about wmds and said he didn’t think nor was he doing anything about Bin Laden—is like Hitler? The judge should have lunch with Ben Carson who thinks many things are like Hitler.
Larry, it didn’t go from antiwar slogan to journalistic fact … it went from state secret to objective fact. Republican candidates for President must now do much more than lie … they must take things that are demonstrably untrue and “make” America accept them as fact. The candidates themselves have “nazified” the process, and many conservatives have come to accept that as a normal part of American politics.
Wait. What?
Doesn’t this force himself to recuse from any cases even remotely connected to Iraq?
And I don’t even get the analogy. People in Germany were lied to about WW I, and this helped bring Nazis to power. Shouldn’t he be comparing Bush to those who lied about WW I, then?
Or is he suggesting that those who say Bush lied are lying themselves?
I can’t even.
"that the idea the Bush administration “lied us into Iraq” has gone from “antiwar slogan to journalistic fact.”
Well … yeah. Lie, kick, kill, whatever it takes. Opportunity of a lifetime - not to be missed…
We’re gonna have to keep our eye on this guy. He sounds a bit unhinged.
The Federal judiciary has fallen into serious disrepute under John Roberts. He should be Tea Party Proud.
He’s 79.
Silberman ruled to uphold the ACA: Silberman November 2011 ruling
Conservatives relentless attempt to conflate liberals with Nazism is akin to closeted homosexuals, like numerous members of Congress, decrying gay rights.
What a hack. We have long known that Silberman is a political operative, now he’s removed all doubt. It is also an established fact that Bush, Cheney et al. used a false linkage between 9/11 and Saddam Hussein as a major conduit to making war in the Middle East. I guess Judge Silberman is just getting too senile to remember what really happened. Kudos to him for “going Godwin” as well. Let’s just say this latest prank is possibly a cry for help.
On the face of it this is foolish. One was the myth of the chaotic END of a war, the other was a fairly well documented methodical process that lead to the BEGINNING of a war. Maybe the best example would be Vietnam.
Did the judge say this when he had his head in or out of his ass?
Silberman needs to be removed from the bench—for being a dick, and for going Full Godwin while lying through his teeth.
If Bush and his administration did not lie, then they were totally incompetent.
This appears to be part of an orchestrated campaign to try to sanitize Bush II so that Jeb has a chance to become Bush III.
It won’t work.
Yes.
