…and this just in. :smirk:

“2013 VA Governor’s Race” - sounds like a convenient pre-manufactured explanation to me.

Well it’s not about Trump, we know that. Comey told him over Zesty Italian Hamburger Helper and banana creme pie.

“The investigation relates to work the consultant did for former Virginia Attorney General Ken Cuccinelli, the GOP’s 2013 gubernatorial candidate.”

“Fortune vomits on my eiderdown once more.”

Widely reported connections between this firm and Manafort, Roger Stone. Why the raid this week? Well, that is a good question, isn’t it? :innocent:

How does “the firm” know what it’s about? The FBI told them when they showed up?

A raid related to a 4 year old settled guv case? Seriously, that’s the best reason they could come up with?

Hmm.

“In 2012, president of Strategic Campaign Group Kelly Rogers registered as a lobbyist for Prince George’s Racing Ventures (Penn National), which sought to build a casino in the Maryland county. As Beth Brigham noted, Penn National own Argosy Gaming, which was headed by Jim Perry, the CEO of Trump Entertainment Resorts.”

Someone else described an “armada of over a dozen vehicles”. This is a big, highly visible operation. More than just looking into something from 2013.

As are we all, Ken. As are we all.

To think Cuccinelli was once a gainfully employed reasonably competent patent attorney.

4 years ago? Jeepers, I hope it doesn’t take them that long to get to the 2016 election.

I suppose that depends on how much they want other SCG clients to sweat and worry and make fear-based deals …

Maybe it was just the foot in the door? You never know what you just might find once you get in the door looking for something else.

Like, you know, say, copies of some of wifey’s (non)classified emails in a backup folder on hubby’s laptop?

ETA: somewhat OT, but apparently Drumpfie is now hinting that he has “tapes” of conversations with Comey(?!!) Not sure how to take this — except perhaps he is stupid enough to think he and his little dogs can selectively edit them?? Like, maybe, 18 mins’ worth??

My guess is that he’s blowing smoke – he’s probably sweating bullets over there trying to figure out what they’ll dig up.

Bet this ruins his weekend.

The wording in this FBI comment on the raid is rather interesting:
