Well, that’s a relief. Nothing to worry about.

There isn’t any evidence either way at this time.

Unless the FBI knows something they’re not passing along.

" ‘No Indication’ That Washington State Mall Shooting Was ‘Terrorist Act’"

Tell that to the families of the victims.

"The lack of consensus as to what a terrorist is can affect policies designed to deal with terrorists. Some view them as soldiers that can be held at the end of a war and are entitled to various privileges spelled out in the Geneva Conventions. Others view them as criminals that should be tried in civil courts. Still others will argue that terrorists are best treated as a category to themselves and need policies tailored to them.[14] This is the case because a) they often cannot be prosecuted because they commit suicide and b) prevention is more important that punishment.

In November 2004, a Secretary-General of the United Nations report described terrorism as any act “intended to cause death or serious bodily harm to civilians or non-combatants with the purpose of intimidating a population or compelling a government or an international organization to do or abstain from doing any act”.[15]"

But has HO weighed in with an inane self-congratulatory opinion yet?

There is a ballot initiative this election to allow restriction of gun sales in Washington State:

Was the intent of the shooter to terrorize? That’s the only definition that matters.

Of course, in modern parlance, the word means “violence attributed to dusky-hued foreigners who adhere to the tenets of Islam.”

By that definition, a white guy can never be involved…

Not so sure about that. It appears the shooter was hispanic.

Seems to me Trump can run with that one just fine given his positions to date.

“Brown people bad”

I’m sure he’s too busy composing a tweet about how he was a major funder for the Smithsonian National Museum of African American History and Culture. Oh, and how he was a design consultant for the building. Oh, and how his generous contributions were never made public because, well, modesty. Oh, and humility, also, too. Oh, and how he’s not attending the opening because he thinks the focus should be on the museum and not his tremendous, generous, handsome, most savior-like self. Oh, and Vote Trump!

Right away, given the fact that (corrected) 4 of 5 were women, I thought of the Montreal Massacre where a gunman killed 14 women at the École Polytechnique in Canada. link to Wikipedia entry Why else shoot up a makeup area, full of women? Terrorism takes many forms, and violence against women is nothing new…In 2013, more than 1600 women were murdered.

The last “mass” shooting in Washington was a disgruntled ex-boyfriend who gunned down kids at a backyard party…this may end up being a similar motivation. Of course it’s early.

Sorry…I read an earlier report…however, my thoughts still stand…I’ve corrected my post.

Obviously I don’t know for sure…but the choice of location says something. There are a lot of stories about mall shootings that end up involving some sort of domestic situation…just Google mass shooting and domestic violence, too many examples…

We shall see…in any case, it’s horrible, whatever the “motive.” It was just a thought and of course I ultimately have no idea. I just posted because people often jump to “terrorism” as the first option and in the majority of cases like this, it’s something else.

Ethnically speaking, Hispanics are considered “white people”, fyi. Hispanics are Europeans. Mixed bloods, such as Mexicans, usually are not because they have Native American blood and European blood.

So it was just a crazy guy killing 5 people and not a crazy guy killing 5 people on behalf of a religion.

Why does that make a lick of difference?

I think the point @suesponte is making is that trumpet sees skin color as the enemy. You’re brown, you’re de facto guilty. Hispanic vs Latino means nothing in his world which has no nuance.

Correct.

I’m quite confident that the guy in Trump’s crowd screaming “build that wall!” won’t be making any fine distinctions regarding etnicity beyond “not white”.

Well yeah…they haven’t ‘uncovered’ his Facebook page yet…why on EARTH would it be terrorism? And yeah, this is sarcastic.

Noting to see here, folks, just a routine mass murder by gun in America. Move along.

It most certainly is a terrorist act.

The terror organization responsible is the NRA, which has caused more needless bloodshed in this country than any foreign entity.
