I live in FL and sadly too many police departments are like Ft Lauderdale. Additionally, too many Floridians are just like the police departments.

Just pointing that out. I do hope the department takes this as a teachable moment and says, “This is racist. You are racist. Nuff said.”

The officers also allegedly shared a video, which the New Times reported had been created by Alvarez.
The mock movie trailer for “The Hoods” used the word “niggers” and showed a dog attacking a black man. The video also depicted President Obama with gold teeth and included Ku Klux Klan imagery.

This is a difficult state to live in. I am amazed that Obama carried Florida twice. I can tell you that in 2012 that the Republican Party in the State of Florida were shocked by the results. They were not surprised that they lost the entire Presidential election as much as they were shocked by losing Florida. They thought they were going win by a minimum of 6 to 7 points and possibly 10 points. I guess they did a lot of focus group polling on police officers.

I hope they take a hard look at these Cop’s “other” victims…all the Black folks they arrested, many now sitting in jail, that did nothing other than be Black. Shit canning the Cop’s is not enough. The entire leadership structure in that Police Force tolerated this.

Here in San Francisco there is an ongoing investigation into the police department’s bigoted officers who sent texts about African Americans. To date one has been fired, and the rest will be. California, the blue state, and San Francisco the blue city. It happens anywhere.

Don’t buy into the “Floriduh” thing. It’s OK down here and despite the image given it by media sharpshooting…is not all that different than most other States. I’d love it if just one of the “well what do you expect…its Floridah” ass holes would have the stones to tell me what State they are from. I don’t imagine it would take long to collect a few links about their mighty fine Police departments. Fuck 'em. Let them shovel snow.
