On Friday, Bennett told CNN that he didn’t believe the bureau was interested in “this personal matter that took place years ago”
Republicans seem to be sinking lower and lower into the muck with each passing day, and they still think their shit doesn’t stink.
The problem seems to be when you pat yourself on the back for decades as being the party of morals and values, you begin to rationalize all your actions, no matter how corrupt or immoral or heartless, as normative for the greater good. And you begin to regard your political opponents not as people with reasonable but differing opinions, but as the enemy that needs to be destroyed. I don’t know. Can this party be saved?
This all started with Gingrich
I’m sure Greitens is hoping that the investigation is extremely limited in scope and time frame. Based on actions this arrogant jerk has taken and things he’s done as governor, I bet there are financial shenanigans and a whole bunch of things that would be of great interest to anyone with the resources, authority and interest to look. Let’s see how tough and smart the former Navy SEAL and Rhodes scholar really is.
SlapGate!
It’s a no-brainer for them to be investigating this, if only because the governor may have been using official resources to deal with this “personal matter” and because he has been vulnerable to blackmail himself as a result. Whether they come up with anything depends on the officers involved.
Greitens: Can you have the NYC field office run this investigation, pretty please?
No, this party is irredeemable. It has been for years. The rot is just seeping out so openly now that no one can avoid seeing it.
What would constitute saving it?

I wish the FBI would investigate Stormy Daniels if she was blackmailing Trump that she would release her story a week before the voting last year if he did not pay her the $130,000.
Surely you jest …
No I am not, what else did Trump do in the past including Russia, that he could be blackmailed by people who want something from Trump. If Russia has evidence of his crime of money laundering, could that be the reason why he does not criticize Putin? I agree that Trump having sex outside of his marriages is not unexpected, but being released one week of the election is a blackmailing situation.
I would say, for example, a party that returns to its pre-Reagan days where government wasn’t the enemy. After all, it was Nixon who created the EPA. A party that believed in science and didn’t think it had a monopoly on virtue and wasn’t based on racial grievances. A party that didn’t give lip-service to patriotism but truly lived it.
That would be for starters. And I doubt those days are coming back.
Did you find an answer on that page that strikes you as likely?
Also, the sex occurred in 2006, Stormy Daniels talked about it 2011, and in 2017, who first contacted whom for the payment. Did Stormy call Trump to get the payment or what? How did this timeline occur with out some initiation of contact between the parties? Did Stormy make the first contact, if so, does that constitute blackmail? At least it should be investigated.
I find it utterly hilarious that the ratwing wants to sicc the FBI on every single one of its political enemies but screams like scalded cats over the FBI investigation into the Russian hacking of our election.
Too goddamn funny for words.
Sounds good to me!
Suppose this party were to exist today, how would we distinguish it from the Democrats?
The glib answer would be tax cuts for the wealthy.
But truly the Republicans have never wavered on their support for corporations and the wealthy, weakening unions, opposition to Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid. They have never supported the New Deal programs established by FDR. Significant differences with Democrats, I would say.
