And if you’re Russia, what do you really want to do here? Hmmm? Do you REALLY want Trump to win OR do you REALLY REALLY want it to look like Clinton “stole” the election by “rigging” it?
My money is on the latter. It will do far FAR more damage.

Algebra? Haha…isn’t there a TPM author named Algebra?
Possibly Illinois and Arizona just happened to be the easiest to hack.
If you’ve ever been to this state, you’d know that’s an understatement.
Wonder what the malicious software was meant to do. Having the voter list is one thing but what if the malicious software has a way to covert electronic votes from (D) to ® when final tabulations are made? This is getting scary that someone is trying to affect our democracy in this way…for whatever reason. This is seriously fucked up.
Diebold was used in the sunshine state (ha!) for the election that year.
Which will also benefit Trump when he calls the election hacked, or whatever colorful word he chooses, when he’s defeated. Always control the narrative, his mantra.
Existentially, pretty much the point of this whole trumpian nightmare.
Yep.
Still attempting to figure out how to get a republicant over the top in oHIo.
Both Illinois and Arizona have close senate races. If the Russians can’t have Trump, they can find another way to cause gridlock.
Looks like Russia is trying to see Trump wins by rigging the election.
Hello everyone - yes, this is areal danger. And it doesn’t have to be swing states, btw, because there are an awful lot of important House and Senate races too…
All the poo-pooing from Josh about how hard it would be to actually affect results kind of missed the point. It doesn’t take much pressure if it’s applied in the right place. Also, you don’t have to hack the DNC to put laws in place that make it difficult for “certain people” to vote. And you don’t have to hack the DNC to get information on people’s voting patterns.
Josh wrote today about now realizing the potential for simply disrupting an election - it reminds me of all the security that was built around the idea that hijackers wanted to survive. It was great strategy, until it wasn’t.
@meta I though he was still counting Ohio by hand?
So the “Great Clips” app for voting?
Yes. Paper ≠ butterfly punch ballots.
Oops, we accidentally lost all the registrations with names ending in -ez. You’ll have to fill out a provisional ballot.
Fine
Ill go with a paper receipt.as it relates to electronic balloting,
However a paper ballot is asking for it
Oh, shit.
