Obama seemed to have a lot of confidence in Comey. He did exhibit a shred of integrity in 2004 when Gonzales wanted a semi-comatose Ashcroft to sign-off on domestic surveillance.
So I am holding out hope that Comey has been giving Congress a GLOMAR response to their questions about Russia and team Trump. “Senator, I can neither confirm nor deny the existence of an investigation”.
I wake every morning from a dream in which the FBI starts frog-marching the traitors, having crossed all the T’s and dotted all the I’s on a thorough investigation. I have to believe this to keep from going crazy.
Then again, I am talking about the same guy who clearly violated the Hatch act.
I know we’re screwed… but a guy can dream, can’t he?

That Comey had the incontrovertible goods on Trump during the campaign…
And knew he’d inevitably be forced to reveal them…
Triggering the biggest political bombshell in American history…
The thought of which led him to leak the Clinton non-troversy a week before the election…
In order to construct a false equivalency…
That he hoped would inoculate him against partisan charges of “letting her win”…
And minimize the inescapable Republican fury over his unavoidable prosecution of Trump…
Thus setting himself up as a self-aggrandized Savior of the Republic for all eternity.
(But, of course, I’d have to be really, really, really delusional to post something like that.)

O if they aren’t attacking our sense of reality by trying to convince us that Putin isn’t really doing anything here and maybe it’s all being fed to us by Russian intelligence, they are attacking our institutions and our press to try to make us lose faith in absolutely everything.
It works on Slavs, so they think it will work on Americans. They don’t get us: we’re far more shallow than Slavs, not nearly as prone to deep cultural depression; Americans are also pretty skeptical, despite how it looks lately.

I vote for self-serving schemer trying to straddle a very pointy fence.
Surely he knows he’s culpable in rigging the election, and there will apparently be no fallout. Does he want to also collaborate with Russian intervention in our government? My guess is he’ll try to keep his hands clean.
