I’d say anyone of any political persuasion can but only republicans are getting daily messaging from leaders in their party egging them on to do it and only republicans have a culture of telling their party members they need to have lethal weapons while demonizing the other party. Basically what you said with a minor caveat.

Yes, and until they know who did it and their background, it’s best for Democrats to wait to say anything. Even then they shouldn’t be in the business of responding and elevating a bunch of crack pots.

I think it is LIKELY to be a deranged righty, but these are crazy times. Whoever did it can’t be too bright. With today’s forensic sciences, odds are pretty good they will get caught.
If it was a deranged righty, what is the actual point? It’s not going to drum up GOP support at the polls. If it was a deranged lefty, it would only hurt the Dems. I think whoever did this (one person? multiple?) is a person that let extreme tribalism push them over the edge, likely already a borderline individual.
