Do we know that the girl has been told what happened? News reports were that the parents didn’t realize it at first, and whisked her quickly away from the scene as soon as they did.
The best thing for her would be to never know. Second best would be to assure her that it was the instructor’s fault, and not on her at all.

Violating their privacy, putting parsed words in their mouths and exposing their faces like this is really exploitive. While Vaca’s kids deserve sympathy for the loss of their father, its obvious this is a staged and deliberately managed ad campaign to secure a settlement and sends out a dog whistle solicitation for donations from NRA members – in other words: “Please take care of us so we do not turn on you and become poster children for gun control.”

Yes, I too feel sorry for the 9 year old girl. Her incredibly stupid parents though, I have no compassion for. I have never known any 9 year old girl, who when asked what was on her “bucket list” for vacation, that going to a shooting range and shooting an automatic weapon was on that list. Obviously she had a couple of gun nut parents who instilled in her how much fun it is to shoot one of those killing machines, but too incredibly stupid to realize it is not something that any 9 year old is capable of controlling in fully automatic mode.
I hear that daddy is a wealthy hedge fund manager, so I am sure that nothing is too much to say no to to his little princess, but again, WHERE did this 9 year old girl learn about shooting these weapons but those incredibly stupid parents of hers? Yes, the owner of that range was stupid and greedy to allow children to be shooting these things, whether or not there are no laws against it, but the final say belongs to her incredibly stupid parents, and so does any psychological problems their little princess may suffer from, knowing she killed a man.
