Discussion: Falwell On Trump Endorsement: I Chose 'Best Leader,' Not 'Holiest'

Discussion for article #245280

what happens if you choose a ā€˜leaderā€™ no one wants to follow? OR if the ā€˜leaderā€™ is actually the spawn of Satan?

ā€œI think itā€™s beneath someone of his stature to say something like that.ā€

I think my brain just short circuited.

And in that spirit, my endorsement for the Messiah goes to that proven executive, the man who knows how to get things done- King Herod the Great!

ā€œWeā€™re supposed toā€¦use our God-given brainsā€

to elect Donald Trump

Did God forget to give the brains ā€“ or maybe there is no God to give the brains?

Sorry Mr Falwell. You are an embarrassment to conservatism.

He said on CNN that when Liberty University was struggling financially, the school brought in ā€œprofessionalsā€ ā€” ā€œnot people who shared our faithā€ ā€” to help turn around the university.

Yeah, heĀ“s on the inside of the grift; he knows better to hire some Christian snake-oil salesman when he needs help.

ā€œWe need somebody who is a professional,ā€ Falwell told CNN, adding that Trump is a ā€œturnaround expert.ā€

  1. Government isnā€™t a business.
  2. Even if government was a business, Trump isnā€™t a turnaround expert.

ā€œI think itā€™s beneath someone of his stature to say something like that. I think thatā€™s a petty ā€” a petty thing to say,ā€ ā€¦and one more time the craven ā€˜followersā€™ reveal their cluelessnessā€¦ā€˜Pettyā€™? Have you WATCHED The Donald, you know, the CHOSEN one?

Tripping the odious fantastic.

He has all the reasoning power of his father, who fortunately is still dead.

because conservatism isnā€™t about a core set of principles, itā€™s an attitude fueled by white anger and resentmentā€¦thatā€™s why itā€™s easy for Falwell to abandon his ā€œbeliefsā€ and endorse the least holiest of candidates.

I give credit to Josh and TPM for calling out present (Carson) and past (Gingrich) campaigns that were nothing more than months long fundraisers to benefit the ā€œcandidate,ā€ by playing off this anger. It just so happens that the fraudulent campaign being run by Trump (itā€™s about his brand, and heā€™s rebranding himself as the voice of angry white America) is actually resonating with the base more because heā€™s been so blatant in his racism, and xenophobia.

Man what a bunch of hypocritical bs. They b&m about democrats and anyone that doesnā€™t walk their particular line for lack of or wrong faith all the time w/o looking one bit at the results. god damn!

Like I said, heĀ“s on the inside of the grift.

Trump promised that Falwell would be appointed to lead the Holy Church of the Eager Quisling
