Discussion: Fake News Stories On The Rise As AL Senate Race Falls Into Hands Of Voters

I’m feeling optimistic today, I think Jones will squeak by, it will be close though, we may not know the winner for weeks.

Any other predictions?

I will say based on the fact that out of Alabama’s population of 4.87 million there are only 5 cities in the state with populations of 100,000 or more and their populations as of the last census add up to 897,000 or 18% of Alabama’s total population, that Moore will win in a landslide with the votes of the Evangelical and very Republican rural population.

ā€œI love Alabama,ā€ said Leeds native and former NBA basketball star Charles Barkley, ā€œbut at some point we’ve got to draw a line in the sand and say, ā€˜***We’re not a bunch of damn idiots.***ā€™ā€

To the bolded: Fake news!

I have little hope…

Really if you boil down to job performance, leaving all the young girl chasing aside, why would you vote for some one who had to be removed from the highest state court because he couldn’t follow the constitution? How much money are conservative Republican Alabamians willing to spend on a two time loser?

Right, he only said we should get rid of the ammendment that lets them vote. Still it is silly to make up stories like that when the truth is just as bad.

Depending on your social circle you may fail to cross paths with anyone that’s read a non-fiction cover to cover in the last decade. Or ever. The electorate is comprised of mainly blithering idiots. And more of them lean right than left, hence the GOP’s assault on science, higher education, teachers, independent laboratories, etc. We truly are doomed. We’re in a perfect storm of paranoia, fear, confusion and social changes millions cannot bring themselves to accept. Josh has pounded away at a personal theory our government, abetted by the citizenry, Trump, the GOP and right wing media, is inexorably trending toward authoritarianism. Fascism leavened with a bit less government control of commerce and industry than the term traditionally connotes is where we’re headed:

Fascists believe that liberal democracy is obsolete and they regard the complete mobilization of society under a totalitarian one-party state as necessary to prepare a nation for armed conflict and to respond effectively to economic difficulties. Such a state is led by a strong leader—such as a dictator and a martial government composed of the members of the governing fascist party—to forge national unity and maintain a stable and orderly society. Fascism rejects assertions that violence is automatically negative in nature and views political violence, war and imperialism as means that can achieve national rejuvenation. Fascists advocate a mixed economy, with the principal goal of achieving autarky through protectionist and interventionist economic policies.

Jones by 8 points. Alabamians finally get to bury George Wallace for good.

And let’s not forget that in the end, the Ten Commandments monument was in fact removed the the AL supreme court building. Moore totally lost that battle, which is the one he’s most known for. So what’s this guy’s attraction again, given that he’s also a child molester and a C-average student? Is it really nothing more than saying ā€œJesusā€ a lot? That’s the antithesis of Nature’s God as mentioned in the Declaration of Independence.

All we can hope for is that once GOP’ers are in an Alabama voting booth, their conscience returns for a very brief visit.

A write-in vote against Moore is a vote for Jones…

One of his attorneys is a ā€œJewā€?

MLK lost a battle and ended up in the Birmingham jail. Losing a battle does not lose you the war. I’m sure should Moore win the Senate seat he’ll feel his lost battles somehow contributed positively to his ultimate victory.

We are about to determine the number of idiots in Alabama willing to go out and prove him wrong.

On a recent TV news show, George Will said that liberals love to make fun of the South, but the good people of Alabama would do what was right.

Moore by 5, don’t underestimate peoples lack of effort to spend a few mins to go vote and old white racist always going out to vote.

We’ll see if there are enough of them to elect Jones.

Those good religious conservatives in the south have no trouble making fun of everybody else, yet constantly whine about being picked on.
