This will be about as effective as making them check the “I am not a Russian” box.
Or making them correctly spell a “captcha” word.
Now I wonder about the reaction from the Citizens United people who screamed that making PAC donors identify themselves would shame Ma and Pa Normal in Kitchentable Iowa and prevent them from participating in the electoral process. Even their postal carrier will know now.
Next thing you know we’ll have to take our shoes off before using facebook.
FB is masturbating.
Why not just send them a telegram, Mark?
But maybe the ban on more than 3 oz. of liquid, while perusing this site, should be considered, especially when @irasdad is on a roll.
Took the words right out of my mouth, darn it!
Buy the ad, let it run for the 10 days it takes to send and receive a postcard and not receive a response. Buy a new ad, rinse and repeat. The bots and butts won’t be the least inconvenienced. Brilliant, FB.
As a further deterrent, payments will be made with S&H Green Stamps.
Will any of the further FB security measures involve duct tape? I’ll feel safer if they do.
They literally paid for many of the ads with fcking rubles!
Facebook knew exactly what was going on but didn’t care. Oh, and by the way, if you think they care now, I’ve got a bridge to sell you.
This isn’t rocket science. Send the postcards but how about only accepting US political ads paid for in dollars?
For Facebook, this is a PR problem, now a process problem.
Russian operatives are one million steps in front of the rubes at FB and Twitter.
The Russians will just rent a storefront in Arlington and pay for ads with US dollars.
Ahh, the old USPS Blockchain solution. Create a recursive Pony Express loop in there, and no more Rooskies !
You can put money on it they’ve already recruited the MAGA rubes who’ll rent the PO Boxes and supply the necessary info to Uncle Vlad’s little friends.
I was thinking more along the lines of Confederate dollars, Bitcoin, or some other worthless currency. The alt-right types would love it.
True dat. You can fix anything with duct tape!
And this from the mind of someone who is thinking about running for President.
So yeah, opening a bank account in the US is not as easy as replying to a postcard.
Note that not all banks have the same set of requirements, it sometimes vary depending on which state you plan on residing/moving to. Nonetheless, below are the usual and most common requirements by most banks:
· Your passport
· Proof of Address (such as billing statement/utility bill)
· Debit/Credit Card from your country
· Social Security Number (here’s a tutorial on how to obtain an SSN as a noncitizen)
· Initial Deposit
Other Supporting Documents You May Need
· Secondary identification card such as driver’s license, work visa or student ID.
· Immigration Documents
· Bank Statement from your local bank
· Credit History Report
· Certification of employment from your US employer
· Enrollment Form (if you’re a student)
Ideally, it is best to reach out to the bank you intend to visit via phone call to clarify the documents needed before heading to the bank
I think opening up a commercial account may be slightly easier.
Boycotting Facebook would be effective. Sadly I can’t get anyone on board with that.
I used to build ads for clients that would run on Facebook. The editorial process was extremely stringent - logos had to be under a certain size, imagery and copy had to be approved, etc. These were standard banner ads for realtors, local restaurants, etc. I Stopped supporting Facebook ads because of this process. This was long before Trump and Russia.
So the excuse that these political ads cannot be vetted is complete and total bullshit. And Facebook knows it.
