Discussion: 'F**king Douchebag': Lawmaker Apologizes For Profane Rant In Video

The crApology was issued AFTER the guy found out he was recorded…

i.e. “Sorry I got caught”.

Maybe Senator Douchebag, AKA Tom O’Mara ®, should apologize to his wife for the foul-mouthed tirade and inappropriate language in front of a woman, his own wife no less. Obviously it is no biggie to him but he could’ve and should now show a little class even if he’s totally faking it.

On the point of the gas storage and the wineries, he merely has to state his position clearly and be done with it. Or he can stick with his bullshit response and hope that it diverts from the fact that he is the true bag of douche, at least, in this instance.

“as an elected official, I regret the words and tone that were used”

i think he meant he regrets that people found out. if he regretted the words and tone that were used, an apology would have already been made. hand in the cookie jar isn’t the time to show you maturely regret your actions.

The douchebag is the law maker. He says he should not respond to anyone he doesn’t know…in other words, he should only talk to those who give him cash and buys him gifts. Typical old white male Republican. I bet if you wear a white hood and ask a question he’ll be more than happy to respond.

KKK + NRA = Republican

The comments here ripping into the Senator sound like Republicans trashing Democrats over every little thing.

The filming guy comes up to the Senator and his wife, in a private environment - not a public forum, and the Senator answers questions for 4 minutes before getting fed up and pushing back by way over-reacting. Four minutes is a lot of time to give the guy in that situation. The guy recording was clearly asking questions in a way fishing for a mistake.

To be honest, the tone of the guy asking the questions made the hairs on the back of my neck stand up, especially when you are cornered in a car.

Did the senator over-react? Yep. Did it merit a public apology? Not in the slightest fucking bit.

Yeah, unfortunately this sounded a little too much like what the asshats at Brietbart try to do by leading folks into an entrapping situation, then saying it proves their point. I don’t know the Republican state senator, but considering the guy with the hidden camera chased him down in a parking lot with his wife, his anger is somewhat understandable.

From the sounds of it, the guy with the camera wasn’t there for public interest, but trying to protect the interests of a competing business with a dog in the fight.

Yeah, that’s bullshit. “Paying” someones salary doesn’t give you carte blanc to treat them like shit and call them a liar in front of their family. That sounds like the Tea Party to me and the labor movement has been fighting for a century against 1%er pricks who abuse their employees believing exactly that.

I’m really surprised that this guy has made it as far in politics as he has. It is a regular occurrence to get some zealous constituent that wants to talk to you or corner you on an issue. It’s something that I thought people were trained to deal with. To handle it appropriately, you just say that you are in a bit of a hurry, but would be happy to hear about the person’s concerns. Sympathize. Listen. Then tell him or her that there are difficult decisions that were made and may be made in the future and that you will take his or her comments into consideration. Politics 101.

Well, unfortunately he does not live in Florida.

"I still don’t like the underhanded tactics, but I should know better.”

TRANSLATION: “I’m pissed off that people can see it and I can’t deny it.”

But he didn’t go into the “It was satire” realm. He’ll need to put his dreams for joining the diplomatic corps on hold, however.

Yeah, four minutes is way too long to spend with a constituent, and the tone of the questions “raised the hair on the back of your neck”, you say? The non answers bothered me more, and his escalation into hyper-expletive mode tells me he is not a sincere representative of his district. Let him put the gas storage facility in his back yard.

Yes people should be allowed to trash talk… and he was; nobody arrested or assaulted him or anything like that. But other people should also be allowed to have and voice opinions of his trash talk. And they are. That does not in the least interfere with his freedom. If their opinions possibly have political repercussions for him, that’s his problem, not theirs; his choice, as is most behavior.

In the eyes of today’s right wing - patience, decorum, diplomacy, civility, sensitivity and other actions of tolerance are all signs of weakness and lack of courage - it is now an eternal contest to be as crude, blunt and downright abusive - and then turn logic in its head and blame all of the uncivil behavior on the person being verbally assaulted.

Well I speak English as a second language…but I know what mincing words and equivocation are.

So let me be sure I understand you here. You think that reminding elected officials who are abusive to citizens that they are public servants is “bullshit”? They love to remind others of how good they are to all us peons, but you take issue with holding them to the same standard? Or am I just misreading what you wrote? Because that’s what it sounds like to me.

They want courtesy and respect extended to them, but increasingly feel no reciprocal responsibility. This reminds me of shitheads like Joe Walsh (R-IL-Deadbeat Dad) and the blowhard governor of New Jersey.

He’s exactly the kind of person we’d get in the diplomatic corps if we elected a Republican President.

I’m all for holding elected officials accountable for their actions. I do think it’s bullshit to go chasing after them whenever they show their face in public… or do you agree with the tactics used by Brietbart and O’Keefe? I also didn’t seen in the article how this particular Republican was being abusive to citizens, but responding a little over top to what was an advocate for a business interest setting him up… stupid, but understandable, in my opinion. LNG development is a legitimate policy that’s not about R or D, but national energy policy.

Tell me where in this article this particular Republican was doing this.
