Sounds like they were leaning on her heavily to go or they had already fired her.
Hope she is a success at the club she owns. I doubt she’d have a career in journalism if she ever decides to go back.

There’s obviously a lot more to the story here. The fact that she’s willing to quit in the manner she did makes me assume she was on thin ice anyway and maybe for good reason.
