Discussion: Explosions Kill At Least 207 In Sri Lanka On Easter Sunday

Ah, yes, another heart-warming story of religious freaks killing each other in order to win the argument of whose invisible man in the sky is the real one. Easter is a perfect time to restate what christianists believe:

A cosmic Jewish Zombie who was his own father can make you live forever if you symbolically eat his flesh and telepathically tell him you accept him as your master, so he can remove an evil force from your soul that is present in humanity because a rib-woman was convinced by a talking snake to eat from a magical tree.

Praise! Glory!

Trump: Get me outta this one!! Spin THIS!!

(harm to real people? collateral damage)

As a whole we are a rather unsatisfactory species.

Very sad to hear about the troubles in Sri Lanka. This is a terrible situation.

But…

Ever with his finger on the pulse of the world our intrepid president scores another knock out for his standing as that “stable genius” we all know of who is well known to inflate numbers to fit the situation…

From cnn.com:

“President Trump corrects his tweet on Sri Lanka death toll.
From CNN’s Kevin Bohn: US President Donald Trump has issued a new tweet saying 138 people have been killed in the explosions in Sri Lanka. In an earlier tweet on Sunday he misstated the number as 138 million. CNN is currently reporting that at least 140 have been killed and more than 560 injured. Sri Lanka has a total population of around 21.7 million.”

Another poor AP report.

While it has good detail on the explosions, the only thing it says about the alleged perpetrators is…

We’ve got the Pope, lots about Christianity, a brief mention of Buddhism, but the Tigers? A rebel group, who evidently want to set up their own thing, but what exactly and why?

The article begs the reader to make a judgement solely on being sympathetic or unsympathetic to Christianity.

Putin is behind the explosions in Sri Lanka.

Malpractice…a set-up for Trump to tweet.

This accords with the Trumpian Seven Figure Standard, in which you typically exaggerate the goodness or badness of a thing by a factor of a million.

Not a religious man myself but your certainty makes me uncomfortable.

138 million is even worse than the Bowling Green Massacre.

Is this a joke, I take it? Putin’s way too busy assassinating dissidents and journalists in his own country (and others as well), not to mention mucking about with the EU and our own elections, to give a damn about Sri Lanka, unless I’m overlooking something of strategic interest for causing unrest in Sri Lanka. Sounds as if it was most likely the NTJ.

Meanwhile, U.S. of A. still indiscriminately bombing six sovereign nations at will. Hocus Pocus!

I think the math equivalent of the Bowling Green Massacre is multiplying times zero.

Such as 84,000 dead children, all casualty’s of Obama’s proxy war in Yemen.

Also worth pointing out that both the Democratic House and Republican Senate passed a bill to end U.S. involvement in Yemen, but Trump vetoed it.

COLOMBO, Sri Lanka (AP) — At least 207 people were killed and hundreds more injured in eight blasts that rocked churches and hotels in and just outside Sri Lanka’s capital on Easter Sunday, officials said, pitching the South Asian island nation into the worst chaos it has seen since a bloody civil war ended a decade ago.”

How do we know Putin isn’t behind this?

And Sanders was a cosponsor. But he’s not a Democrat … so it doesn’t count.

Ok Ok, that’s it for me today. You’re a bad influence on me georgeh.

Not to quibble too much. But anyone who has been more or less reading the newspapers (pre digital age and post) and is not focused exclusively on the USA (as many people in this country are, unfortunately) should be generally aware of who the Tamil Tigers are and of their long, bloody civil war against the Buddhist majority of their country. Sorry for being a grumpy somewhat elderly person.

Yes yes. But I am sitting patiently waiting for AOC to Tweet or Instagram the definitive take on this entire issue and its history and how Yemen is Obama’s fault, if only we had elected Peter Camejo President back in the 1970s none of this would have happened.
