Discussion: EXCLUSIVE: Comey Has Brought On Former U.S. Attorney Pat Fitzgerald As One Of His Lawyers

After Judith Miller supported Trump’s Libby pardon in an op-ed saying Fitzgerald’s prosecution of Libby was overzealous and politically motivated, I’m surprised Mueller didn’t pick him up.

Easy answer :white_check_mark:

Trump/Session’s DOJ is deeply corrupt, crypto-authoritarian and malevolent. Trump’s been calling for the prosecution of his political enemies, including FBI officials for a year!

There’s no doubt we’re coming to an infection point - a challenge to American Democracy and its well established Rule-of-Law institutions.

We should all pay attention to what’s about to develop, in the coming days and months.

Yep. The words “sealed indictment” make me cringe, too.

Interesting in that “we are coming to an inflection point” is the exact term Comey used when I saw him speak here in Portland on Saturday.

Between George Ryan and Blagojevich, Illinois owes him a great deal of gratitude. Pretty impressive when you send consecutive governors to the pokey.

It’s interesting that we’re relying on a bunch of white Republican men (pardon the redundancy) to stand up for the rule of law and democracy. It’s like we’re back in the 1770s – everyone else is still marginalized to a greater or lesser degree. I’m not rejecting their efforts, but it is troubling.

tRUmp will derive some warped logic to declare more “deep state” BS with this hire

It may well be less that Comey needs high-powered attorneys, and more that Comey allowed Fitz to get in on the action once Trump pardoned Scooter Libby. If nothing else, Libby’s attorneys are probably having a litter of kittens today at the news.

He said actually said “infection”?

Hard to believe.

Baloney. We’re relying on a judiciary across the country to stand up for the rule of law, democrats and republicans (thankfully).

That sounds weird to me too. I’ve heard of an “inflection point,” but “infection point” is a new one for me. I guess if you’re talking about a “zombie virus” going around, turning people into mindless partisans, it might make sense, but otherwise, it’s odd.

Comey used the term “inflection point” I misread what I assume was a typo and my brain autocorrected it.

Good catch, khyber. I hope Mueller goes with an indictment and we are talking criminal trial.
