I took crap for it at the time, but I always saw Ty Cobb as (a) honest, and (b) the only real lawyer Trump ever had once McGhan recused his office to protect himself. Cobb looked to me like he saw Trump as guilty, and his job as to keep Trump from committing more serious obstruction, etc as the investigation unfolded. I think he elected to lie to Trump about the likely outcome, as the only way to keep him from doing more dumb ass crimes.
A honorable lawyer will do that, they will try to keep the client under control as the process unfolds, keep them from committing more crimes. Guilliani and the religious grifter Suckalow lack the ethics that Ty Cobb brought to the table.
Cobb reiterated his previously-known praise for special counsel Robert Mueller — whom he called an “American hero”— and said that he never “had a bad interaction” with the special counsel or his staff. Cobb disagreed with the claims of Dowd, who called the Mueller investigation a fraud.
Hilarious!
Tough working for a narcissist idiot ain’t it Cobb
To bad you voluntarily signed up
Zero sympathy
He wants to get stuff done. He hates obstacles. And he reacts strongly in the face of obstacles to try to move them out of the way or find somebody who will move them out of the way for him so he can do things.
And what is the Special Counsel blocking Trump from legally doing? Nothing. Which means there is no obstacle, which means Trump is incapable of doing anything on his own.
Are we just gonna ignore that amazing stache or what?
I’m just impressed that he’s managed to keep that curl in his moustache.
Bad lawyering? Sure, there’s been plenty of that, but I’m gonna stick with guilty client as the root cause.
The law, for instance.
Like anybody loves obstacles, Cobb. Come on.
‘Cobb said the “President was very clear from day one that, you know, anybody who was asked, you know, should be encouraged to do so voluntarily.”’
Great, so Trump will encourage full cooperation with the House of Representatives’ probes, document requests, hearings, etc. Let’s have a statement from Trump to that effect at a news conference.
““I was a footnote on day one,” Cobb said.”
Shorter Sandow-the-Legal-Strongman: “Pleeze don’t be indictin’ me, Mr Mueller! I knew NO-THINK!”
Remember when Ty Cobb conducted a seekrit Trump lawyer strategy session in broad fucking daylight within earshot of a NYT reporter? I remember.
This is likely just Ty’s first attempt at ingratiating himself to Mueller, and distancing himself from the bevy of lawyers who will likely be disbarred soon for obstructing justice.
Rudy…RUDY, pay attention. I’m talking to YOU!!
.
All this explains why Cobb is no longer working for the Vulgar Talking Yam. Smart move, counselor.
The man’s a hero and a saint and he had nothing to with Bad Things. And he knows which way the wind is blowing.
“That was then…”
What a steaming pant load.
There is zero chance that Ty Cobb is disbarred, he appears to have done what he is supposed to under the ethical command of honesty. But Rudy and the Jesus Freak Grifter Sucklow are different beasts, and my guess is that they both end up getting their tickets pulled at some point.
I am hopeful that Barr took the A.G. Job for the same reason Ty Cobb appears to have represented Trump, to try to keep Trump from pushing the entire fucking country off the edge. Pray it is so.
