Discussion: Ex-SC Cop Gets Probation For Fatal Shooting Of Black Man In His Driveway

“He had to make a split-second decision instead of like now, when everyone gets all the time they want to analyze it,” Craven’s lawyer Jack Swerling said.

So the fuck what? It isn’t like no one has ever been sent to prison for a split-second bad decision before and cops ought to be held to a higher standard, not a lesser, given the powers they are entrusted with by the state.

Craven? Indeed. God’s famous sense of humor again I suppose.

He seems like a nice guy from his picture, NO?

Swerling said Craven regrets that Satterwhite died in the shooting and has no plans to be a police officer again.

Do any of these people understand how depraved this sounds? I “regret” buying a certain piece of clothing that wasn’t really appropriate for my age. Very much a spur of the moment thing. You don’t regret killing someone in their own driveway. And as for having no plans on being a cop again, well, I’d hope the state would put the kibosh on that regardless.

@chammy Yeah, it’s the dead eyes that’s the giveaway.

Well, I think it really comes down to how you define a split second…

" after he led police trying to stop him for drunken driving on a 13-minute chase."

13 minutes is apparently the new criteria in SC for a split second.

Maybe Nikki Haley would like to regale us again with how wonderful and friendly South Carolina is?

how about “quite unfortunate”? you know, shooting an unarmed 68 year old guy seated in his car. sounds like he feared for his life. well, at least the victim did.
