True. Sad case all around. Maybe Officer Liang did accidentally fired his gun after being startled by a noise in a dark staircase. But he argued with his partner about calling for the union rep before calling for help for the victim. Unbelievable. I predict he will get probation rather than imprisonment.
If he had been a white cop, he would not even been indicted.

I won’t celebrate this until the judge rules on the defense motion and sentences this guy.

Did no one notice that previous killings by cops have been by experienced officers. And yet, here we have a rookie who does have a believable excuse. But he is convicted where others aren’t even indicted. Oh yeah, he’s Asian.
I don’t have all the facts so don’t come down too hard on me. But I was struck by this when I first read about it months ago. It’s probably the one case where I had any sympathy for the cop.
