I’m wondering if there’s a collective delusion brewing among the republicans.
Politics can be like a drug…sometimes rewarding but mostly addictive to those so predisposed.

Excuse me, when we said it was going to be a cattle call, we were not expecting actual cattle to show up to audition.
It is fortunate that few people remember Pataki because most have forgotten how really bad he was. He ran the Republican party into the ground in New York. He fought endlessly with his hand-picked lieutenant governor.
Pataki was a sock puppet for corrupt New York Republican Senator and political boss Al D’Amato. Good memories for the Republicans to dredge up.
About the only thing good we can say about Pataki is that, to the best of my memory, he did not attack the George Washington Bridge from the New York side.

I’m lucky in a way. My brother-in-law lives in Buffalo, NY. Even tho he’s a republican he is one of those rare critters … a reasonable man. He gives me the inside scoop on local and state politics in NY. My in-law is no fan of NY republicans.

Cotton will be running, just not this year. My guess is he is aiming for 2024.
But what does he bring to the table for anybody? He will have no significant (if any) delegates, he has no natural constituency within the party that several others aren’t already better poised to win, and he comes from NY, which under absolutely no scenario is it ever going to cast its EVs for a republican ticket.
Basically, this is “well, strange things happen on campaigns” candidacy. Maybe everyone else will drop dead or end up caught on video in a bizarre “GOP top tier sex orgy” video. But short of that, I have no idea what he is doing. It doesn’t even buy him friends within the party at this point. They want people to drop OUT, not jump in.
