Discussion: Ex-Minn. Sen.: Michigan Gov. Rick Snyder To Run For President In 2016

Discussion for article #235673

And at this rate, the GOP is going to have enough presidential candidates to field a baseball team.

I’d have commented sooner—but I had to wait until I stopped laughing so hard.

In the first place, Norm Coleman doesn’t know whether to wind his ass or scratch his watch.

In the second place, if Rick Snyder actually believes he has a chance of being elected president, he’s dumber than Norm, and that violates the laws of physics and biology.

“You have to wonder why people to come to our meetings.”

For once, Ari Fleicher tells the truth.

But seriously, Synder is the worst sort of conservative, one who appears superficially sane but is just as much of an asshole as, say, Sam Brownback.

Will he campaign on appointing emergency managers to take over the governorships of Kansas, Arizona, Wisconsin and other fiscally failing or close-to-failing red states?

Only if, in doing so, he benefits his buddies in Big Business.

Snyder is completely in the pockets of the Mackinac Center, which is basically a Michigan version of ALEC. In some ways Snyder’s even more dangerous than Cruz or the other wingnut GOPers, because he doesn’t come across like a flaming hardcore conservative asshole. His first campaign was largely based on “Hey, I’m a nerd, so I can’t be all that bad…” and thousands of Dems swallowed it hook, line and sinker.

In 2006, in spite of great physical hardship and personal sacrifice 2,142,513 supposed Democrats managed to get to the polls to vote for Jennifer Granholm. In 2010, over 855,000 of these former Granholm voters and supposed Democrats said “aw fuck it, voting’s too hard” which meant that Virgil Bernero—a solid liberal, not some blue dog—ended up with 1,287,320. Which meant that Snyder was elected easily.

This is the same thing that’s happened in Kansas, Wisconsin, and Ohio, just to pick three midwestern states—over the past six years alleged Democrats by the millions have sat on their asses when formerly they managed to vote for Dem candidates in those states. The contempt I have for these alleged “Democratic” voters is impossible for me to put into words. As a lifelong resident of Michigan, it’s especially disgusting to me. A typical progressive whine is “we need better Democratic candidates,” but there was nothing in Mark Schauer’s campaign platform that wasn’t fully in accord with any reasonable liberal’s agenda. We might always be in need of the best candidates possible, but the candidates can sure use better Democratic voters, too.

He’s just another pol in a cheap suit who looks in the mirror in the morning and says back to his reflection “Good morning Mr. President.” He probably thinks his record as governor will not become part of the conversation

27th: When Snyder took office, Michigan was 2nd in job growth – today we are down to 27th under his watch (Arizona State University)
7.7%: Michigan’s unemployment rate (Bureau of Labor Statistics)
16th worst: Thanks to the Snyder administration, Michigan is the 16th worst run state in the country (247Wallstreet.com)

How many GOTP President Candidates (PresCan) does it take to ruin a country?

A few days ago I made a facetious wager that the number of Republicans running for President could reach 30 - I should have put serious money on that!

I sincerely hope the NERD does run for president so the whole nation can learn of the bullshit he’s pulled as MI Gov. 1.8 billion tax cut for business with a similar amount added for seniors. Right to Work, which wasn’t on his “agenda” but passed with his signature in two days after the topic was brought up. He’s taken over the local government of 12 cities and installed an Emergency Manager, each of whom has declared all local contracts as null. The list goes on and on… Snyder doesn’t get the press that Walker does, because he’s smarter than Walker and doesn’t brag about it.

There is nothing the repugs have done in MI that has helped the economy. If not for Obama helping the Auto industry we would be a waste land.

‘What a fucking joke’. Can’t wait for the national press to get a chance to drive on MI roads. They are like Beirut.
