Discussion for article #238662
Will she be charged with a hate crime too? It’s time we started doing that to police who do these kinds of things for the reason we all know they’re doing them. I suppose it’s just too bad she’ll be going to one of those overly comfortable federal penitentiaries…
A flash grenade – what could possibly go wrong?
The bigger question. Does anybody believe that this was the first time that this deputy/department fraudulently obtained a search/arrest warrant?
These “No Knock” warrants should be used only when dealing with suspected or confirmed terrorists and high stakes criminals, not just the petty drug peddler who lives down the street. It’s not the first time that innocent people get killed or maimed in their own homes over little crime or nothing at all.
Notice there was a federal prosecutor and not a local one. The local one is on the police payroll.
Let’s see…flash bang grenade…flash bang grenade. Ah, here it is! One flash bang grenade, Army surplus used in standard law enforcement action. Thank you Sheriff Terrell. Your use of the grenade has now qualified you for a mine-resistant vehicle and 1,400 surplus M-14s. Sign here…here…here… initial here…and we’ll have it to you in 3 to 5 working days.
A “no knock” warrant for what amounts to a couple of rocks of meth?
Yup, America’s a police state. No doubt about it.
I bet the judge who issued the search warrant didn’t pay much attention to the false allegations. He or she claims to be surprised now, but if the judge had any experience at all his or her bullshit detector would have been flashing red.
Just more lives ruined by this failed War on Drugs.
You mean cops lie so they can pad their arrest records? I’m shocked! Shocked, I say!
Yeah, a low-level Meth deal is good reason to execute a No-Knock Warrant. The Police are over-equipped and under-trained on when and how to use all this gear. It’s a shame that the only reason this former deputy was charged was because she lied. Notice no one was charged because of the poor execution of this raid.
we can do better.
I will never understand how those right wing conservative fools who support the Nazi tactics never consider the ultimate cost to tax payers. They always bitch about paying too many taxes but continue to support what has become a the the American version of the Gestapo and their Kriminelle unternehmen. At every level, from the law enforcement officers to the prosecutors, and even the judges following them, all are becoming like a group of southern good ole boys. Yet these blowhard conservatives never question the true cost. The millions that are spent on law suit settlements and legal fees are but a mere down payment to the true cost.
Just think to yourself. How few are the times when another officer is present, they never challenge and even support these Nazi tactics.
It is shameful.
Former Habersham County Deputy Nikki Autry, 29… a 10-year department veteran
So…a cop at 19? Really? I’m sure exposure to nothing but cops has created a well-rounded individual. Only way it could be worse is if her family are cops… And given the age she got in, I think that’s a fair bet.
Both the judge and her boss should be arrested as accomplices. Probably her boss’s boss and the judge’s boss too.
Yep, I’m sure she acted entirely alone in this, and that there are no other bad apples in the department.
Or the judge didn’t care, I think that’s the more likely scenario.
Since this is Georgia, and the local DA and grand jury brought no charges, I sure hope that the Phonesavanhs win a huge pile of money, including some massive punitive damages (I’d like to see $25 mil) that would both hurt, if not disband this “task force,” make them think twice, and then think again before doing anything like this in the future and get the sheriff to be seeking new employment.

I knew this one was clueless.
Haha.
