Discussion: Everyone Is Mad At Mike Huckabee For Saying Merkel Felt 'Awkward' On D-Day

It runs in the family…

God the stupid burns.

Huckabee, I’ve been in Sicily and Italy on Liberation Day = the day we invaded and started taking Italy back from the Germans - and there are always German tourists around. Doesn’t bother them either.

You do realize most people who were alive during WWII aren’t anymore?

Distraction, perhaps, from this message (nonverbal) sent to how he really feels about the remembrance?

All these years after the war ended and Mike Huckabee has the itch to show the world, once again, what a nasty-ass idiot he has worked so hard to become. No Christian love for today’s Germany from this man.

Yeah, well, must be awkward for these southern politicians seeing the flag of the union above all their state capitol buildings and post offices after Grant and Sherman broke the backs of the slaveholders.

If Merkel believes in our values why doesn’t she speak English like a real American?!

Perhaps Huckabee doesn’t realize that we also liberated Germany from the Nazis?

So, by this logic, Donnie Drumpf should feel embarrassed to meet a Native American?

Of course she feels awkward! She’s sitting two seats away from a pussy grabbing fascist moron.

That’s exactly the thing. It actually is awkward for many American southerners to be reminded of the victory of the United States in the Civil War, because those modern Americans share and honor the values of the Confederacy, which are the values of white supremacy, even though they will never admit it out loud. But Angela Merkel, like most Germans, passionately repudiates the values of the Nazis.

I think that MIke is revealing a lot about himself here.

I really don’t want to believe people are this stupid and/or obtuse. Could it be that we are just too far removed from these monumental events for people to comprehend their significance?

What’s more awkward than a neo-Nazi like Trump?

Good, because it was an effing ignorant thing to say.

We’ll certainly remember it the next time the little white boys march with tiki torches and a republican blathers about “good people on both sides.”

Stupid hick.

Someone should get word to Trump the U.S. paid an unfair proportion of the money required to put on the D-Day remembrance ceremony.

Then start making popcorn.

Hell with that. Tell him the Brits and French still owe us money for saving Europe…
