A classic non-apology, apology. It was your fault (and by extension, everyone’s fault) for not understanding the humor in the tweet. Why did she delete it so quickly then? She must have known she did something wrong. And why go on Hannity? If it was poorly worded (ie. not racist) and people misunderstood, then appear on a more mainstream show, like Anderson Cooper.
Exactly, Valerie Jarrett has always been low key. So why would Barr pick her name out of the ether to tweet about? The whole member of the Muslim Brotherhood was soooo 4-6 years ago.

Hollywood creates monsters like her because this is the shit they say in order to get them off their asses and to their marks. And the truly screwed up ones, start to buy that they are G*d’s gift to the arts. The same people that tell them this, hate their guts. Such is the case with Roseanne.
Ambien must be a heck of a drug. At one time an actress would bare their soul to a mainstream figure like an Oprah or Barbara Walters and their issues would be discussed and life goes on. Now it’s an actress who trafficked in bizarre conspiracy theories, has race and tolerance issues and a career crisis opens up to a just as odious excuse of a human.

The difference is either being self-aware of one’s primal inclinations, or expecting everyone else to not “be hurt” when you blurt out some stupidity.

Not to mention assuming that the rest of us are too stupid to know better. So Roseanne: Anyone who is tuned in enough to know the name “Valerie Jarrett” knows that she is African American. And, Roseanne, did you miss the fact that Valerie Jarrett hasn’t been serving in the White House for WHAT SEEMS LIKE AN ETERNITY! I mean, who is still thinking about Valerie Jarrett after all this time? Why tweet about her at all? And why refer to her as “VJ”? Is that a thing? Oh yes, that’s a thing, and we ALL KNOW that the whole episode was supposed to be a signal to the more politically conscious of your fans that you share their “values.” Unluckily for you, a lot of people in the entertainment world don’t share their values.
Not creative enough to fool the rest of us with your made up post hoc excuses.
I take pride in the fact that I’ve never seen an episode of this swamp sow’s TV show. She’s been a disgusting hog forever and now that she knows she’s a total has-been, she’s desperately creating controversy around herself in order to get back in the public eye. She deserves no pity. Her bullshit will soon dry and flake off, so on with the midterm blue wave that will wash her and many GOP miscreants into the sewer of history.
Fallows was pointing this out Cassandra-like well before the election. He said he’d interviewed scores of Nobel winners, top people in physics, international leaders in their fields, all that. And he said not one ever said he or she was “like, a really smart person.” It’s just not a thing they did. What I dimly remember from the original show was that Barr had a certain niche that was kind of interesting and new. “Creative genius” suggests mostly that she’s a frickin’ wack job.
When I was in the magazine business, I worked on an article about arms control by a couple of professors, both very soft spoken. Just before press time one of them called kinda apologetically asking if it was too late to change his author bio. And add that he’d just been awarded a Nobel Prize. The whole point about really smart people is that they know how much they don’t know.
When you think about it, she’s had more lives than a proverbial cat–the anthem thing, the abuse allegations, the various family dustups, the marriage/divorce to Tom Arnold, the various people she fired or forced out on her show. That she has an audience or platform for anything at this point is remarkable.
I wasn’t going to post a comment on this article because I did not want to elevate Rosanne at all. So I had to think about how to approach the the subject matter to reflect my true thoughts.
And thus, I decided to post this:

Deep inside these sick people know it’s wrong to hate humanity due to the color of someone’s skin color. They know how wrong it is, and they can’t face their racist beliefs head on! Oh what a damn shame!
My recollection, also admittedly pretty dim, is that Barr basically took All in the Family and translated it to herself, even naming her TV family after the star of the show she was copying (Conner v O’Connor). The best part of the deal being that, unlike that star, she didn’t have to act.

Um, that’s not an apology.
That’s expressing remorse for something that someone else did (i.e., felt harm and hurt).
That’s as much of an apology as this: I’m sorry that Roseanne Barr is a racist asshole.
