If this school is receiving any federal funding then they should be revoked from receiving any future federal until they correct this one sided decision. The professor is clearly being discriminated against and I don’t understand their reason for releasing her is because 1) she’s Black and 2) she’s Muslim.
The professor is correct though when she states that Muslims serves the same God as Christians…but these so called christians as so filled with hate and racist that its blinding them to the truth.
There is only one God and we serve him through many channels…just take a look at the religion rainbow …they all believe in someone higher than themselves!
yep–nice catch 22. We will take you back, if you relinquish tenure. Why do you suppose they want her to relinquish tenure–the obvious answer, is so they can fire her easier. Now that she refuses to relinquish tenure, they still move to fire her–but, at least this time she will make them go through the show trial.
Well, it will be interesting to see what the GOP Holy Squad–Carson, Huckabee, Cruz, et al–will see this as a form of persecution, or political corrrectness: a Christian professor loses her job because she believes that Muslims and Christians worship the same God.
I don’t know if that’s necessarily true. She’s entitled to due process based on how that contract defines the process. If the firing is made in bad faith, such as by retroactively and super-conveniently inventing a ridiculous interpretation of dogma just to get rid of her (and whatever other evidence of “let’s get rid of her through bad faith shady means” she can dig up), and particularly if that bad faith deprives her of the due process the contract contemplates, then arguably there was a prior breach by the school of the duty in any contract of good faith and fair dealing, which would allow her to void the contract and sue their nipples off for wrongful termination. I’d be filing the suit already if I were her and using discovery to bludgeon the school for its records, meeting minutes, identities of all meeting attendees, sending out depo subpoenas, demanding emails, phone records, electronically stored information, etc. Even if there’s “sole discretion” language, there could be other evidence of bad faith allowing her to collaterally attack the contract.
I think she might have a good case for that kind of “bad faith” in light of what Pope Francis has said and what an expert scholar would say. I’m not an employment attorney, but that’s not employment law, just contract law.
I happened to have seen what they request when you apply for a faculty job there and you can be sure that they screen every faculty member (regardless of discipline) for religious purity.

Stan Jones was a horrible horrible prof when I was there and is equally bad as a provost. Wheaton, which really is an outstanding school with great teachers and students, is being dragged to the Bob Jones level. But parents would be up-in-arms if she was allowed to stay, being the type of parents who believe in the war on Christianity. I won’t send my kids there, much different place than when I was there.
And yet she was hired and granted tenure, so she passed their purity test (at one time). I hope some deep pockets will back her defense and hire a top-notch legal team.
Correct, people will try to twist this various ways, but it boils down to the contract you have. Breach it, and you are gone.
If you show a company has put things in their food products that will kill by revealing ingredients you that signed a confidentiality agreement to keep secret, they can fire you. They can also be prosecuted for using said ingredients, but you are still fired for breaching your contract.
