Now THIS is a surprise.

The pope doesn’t think Jesus is the only way to heaven either.

Pope Francis continues to show he’s anything but traditional. During a recent public appearance, Francis comforted a boy whose dog had died, noting, “One day, we will see our animals again in the eternity of Christ. Paradise is open to all of God’s creatures.”

Come on now… you know that folks like Erickson don’t think Catholics are really Christians either. The Know-Nothing Party loved attacking the “Papists”, and plenty of Protestants thought JFK shouldn’t be elected President — I’m sure in private many of these Christian Right types mutter the same thing. (Although they seem pretty happy with some of the Catholics on the Supreme Court…)

Reporters outraged by suggestion Obama isn’t a Christian are the same
ones who won’t ask Obama if he thinks Jesus is the only way to Heaven.

And probably the same ones who won’t ask him if the White Rabbit is the only way to Wonderland or if Peter Pan is the only way to Neverland.

I just have a hard time keeping this all straight. Weren’t they complaining last week (or was it yesterday) that the President went to a “radical church” for twenty years? He went to weekly chapel services at school in Hawaii, too. Maybe more “churching” than Erickson has seen.

I wonder if Erickson thinks Mormons are Christian?

For what it’s worth I think Obama is faking it too.

Yeah Eric…I don’t recognize YOUR brand of ‘Christianity’ either…not in any ‘meaningful’ way…

I don’t think fat baby-faced mouthed idiots like this really care about humanity as long as they are fat baby-faced mouthed idiots who get rich by saying stupid things.

Where have I seen similar statements, oh yes… the extremists in ISIL who think non-ISIL Muslims are not Muslim enough.

Ahem…Some H.L. Mencken here:

The chief contribution of Protestantism to human thought is its
massive proof that God is a bore.

“I like your Christ, I do not like your Christians. Your Christians are so unlike your Christ.” ― Mahatma Gandhi

I have used this quote a dozen time this week alone.

Erick the Lesser, have you turned your other cheek today?

P.S. Don’t forget to not judge others, unless you wish to be judged by your heavenly father in similar fashion. Honi soit qui mal y pense is biblical advice for us all, not just certain royals!

It’s interesting. There’s “Obama is Christian.” Then there’s “Obama is A Christian.” I think they kinda mean different things. When people say “a Christian” it sounds like they’re talking about being Christian in a more fundamentalist sort of way (as Erickson says, someone who “thinks Jesus is the only way to Heaven”). I don’t think Obama is that kind of Christian either. He seems more rational and tolerant than that. I do believe he is Christian, as in he believes that there was a divine Christ who said some things that are worth listening to.

Of course, this comes from a lifelong atheist brought up in the Jewish tradition, so I might be misunderstanding the whole thing…

“Any meaningful way”? There’s only one meaningful way, and how many times, in fora both religious and secular, has Obama acknowledged that one way, ever since the 2008 primaries?

But all of this smacks of those who ask when Muslims will begin to speak out against extremists’ actions taken in the name of Islam: All anyone who’s truly interested in seeing such statements has to do is open their browser to a page other than Newsmax or World News Daily . . . or RedState.
