Discussion: Erick Erickson: If You're Earning Minimum Wage In Your 30s, You 'Failed At Life'

Failed at life? I know lots of people (mostly small business professionals) who struggled in their 30s only to hit their stride in their 40s and 50s. The ones who didn’t have rich parents.

He’s such a Christian … except for that blessed-are-the-poor-rich-man-to-heaven-camel-through-eye-of-needle thing.

“. What? So my producer from my show is in here and he’s just staring at me, can’t believe I said this”

He’s probably earning a M W.

This is why no one votes for “conservatives.” This need to be mean-spirited in a way that only drives people away is right out of the 8th grade playbook, which suits this clown.

Please proceed with your “outreach,” Erick of Nowhere.

Even if he was right (and he’s not) even “losers” deserve to paid for their work. And if you work 40 hours a week it should be enough to be able to at least get by.

Did you know we used to do other stuff?

If people can’t earn a living wage, they often go on welfare, which the rest of us pay for with our tax dollars. So either the corporations pay their workers, or we do. Which makes these corporations freeloaders. So Erick supports freeloaders.

Erick, next time you’re wolfing down Big Macs at McDonald’s, don’t choose Mountain Dew as your drink and be more than a little suspect of the “special sauce” on yer burger.

Doesn’t matter. Step on me as hard as you want - as long as you step on THOSE PEOPLE just a little harder.

Yeah! And all you overseas people who ended up with our low-wage jobs? Losers!
Dammit! I spilled my latte.

If you’re going to destroy the middle class and get away with it you have to demonize and humiliate those who suffer most from wage inequality. In the end, however, this necessary tactic will boomerang on the GOP. Sooner or later the ‘common man’ will realize that (s)he is the one the wingnuts and 1 per centers are denigrating, not just the ‘others’.

Compassionate conservatism at work. It is definitely not ideal, but it could be all you could find given the labor market.

Sounds like code words for black. Minority outreach is not going well in wing-nut land.

Whenever I read of these entitled assholes and their diatribes, I now have something to turn to. I check out the faces of White People Mourning Romney. Revenge is a dish best served with Schadenfreude

I actually find these sorts of very plain statements to be extremely helpful. One of the most frustrating things about modern political discourse is how effective these people are at never quite saying what you know they mean - so no matter how clear it is in their actions, they never come out and directly say, “I don’t give a sh!t about the working poor.”

This forces those of us who clearly see this sentiment in their daily actions to use convoluted arguments to convince people of this obvious truth. Those arguments rapidly devolve into the sort of “how dare you say we don’t care about…” BS that goes nowhere. So, far from condemning Erickson for admitting his proud hatred of people that don’t have it as well as him, I applaud him for openly exposing his ignorance and making the opposing arguments so much easier to frame.

Hey Erick, keep on pushin’ the right-wing propaganda that minimum-wage jobs are for teenagers. Your echo chamber will love it. (p.s. Yes you did “mean to be ugly.” It’s what you and your ilk do.)

The answer would be no. His so-called mind is permanently closed.
