The worst thing about watching the jockeying in the republican field, however much it reminds one of Monty Python’s upper class twit competition, is that eventually we’ll be forced to take one of these characters seriously.

Imagine you’re visiting Portugal or some other civilized nation in a couple years and one of the locals says “Oh, your new President is Donald Trump, isn’t he?” Pretty quickly you correct the person that you’re from Canada, right?

Yes, it’s not as if there are one or two candidates with whom you disagree politically, but who don’t scare the living bejeesus out of you, surrounded by a bunch of half-crazed also-rans. The entire field consists of half-crazed also-rans.

It’s disconcerting when you start to think John Kasich is the only GOPer approaching sanity.

‘This was a terrible mistake. What have I done?’"

Are you sure she wasn’t talking about the Tom Cruise scifi?
PS-Photo looks like Elijah Wood in a lace dress…

It’s terrifying actually.

If I was very rich I would probably leave myself if the nation goes RED .It would be hell to live in a christian far right extremist world.

If you were rich and we “went red” the gov’t would basically be working to serve you and your peers…

At that point you could simply buy your own politicians to do you bidding.

Well, the US has a looooong tradition of random famous personalities capturing the public’s political imagination. Usuallly they aren’t candidates for POTUS, however.

You can’t imagine how embarassing it was to be overseas during the Bush years. In one instance, I was at a dinner with a community of english speaking people from England, Ireland, Canada, New Zealand and Austrialia, and the realization that I was the only American, they jokingly put me at a kiddies table by my self aft of a partition, and subsequently shut the partition because of America having unleashed bush on the world. It was very funny at the time, but I felt like it was deserved. At the end of Spring the European Community was being undermined by Grexit which is fallout from the Great Recession a consequence of Bushonomics, now its the end of summer and European Community is hemorrhaging over war refugees, another consequence of Bush policies (the invasion of Iraq). The rest of the world should send America bills for putting @ssholes in power and destroying global civilzation. This isn’t even the first time. GOP policies created the Great Depression, which paved the way for the rise of Hitler, which lead to the devastation of Europe.
