Bill Mahrer nailed this a few weeks ago when he was discussing how the CW was that the evangelicals in Iowa made it impossible for people like Trump or Christie to win there.

Fundies throw their religious beliefs out the window at the drop of a hat when money and power enter the picture.

I suppose thatā€™s the good thing about belief in something unsubstantial, you can rack up change in your behavior to equally unsubstantiated things, no questions asked.
