Discussion for article #231163
There’s something kind of interesting seeing Graham - who likes to play reasonable moderate on TV when it came to a lot of the tea party dealings - going to bat for Wall Street the second it comes up. There’s a few “moderates” on the GOP side just like him in that regard. And I agree, it did seem like she got under his skin with this.
From where I’m sitting, follow the lead of the Senator from Massachusetts, Democrats.
Lindsey might want to check the contents of that can he’s trying to open. It might contain whoopass.
Warren struck a Democratic nerve, too.
Jim Moran of Virginia—whom I usually like—called her a demagogue this morning on MSNBC.
But I found it hilarious (in a rather strange way) to see Lindsey Graham clutching his pearls while calling Sen. Warren the problem.
The man is so blinkered by his adherence to a fraudulent right-wing ideology that he cannot even see the monumental stupidity of his claims about Warren.
Graham is brazenly supporting a rider that will end up costing the American taxpayer hundreds of billions of dollars—because if this is allowed to pass as is, there will be another massive bailout within a few years, because the cost of the risk (to the bankers) will be far lower, making that risk something they’re bound to take.
When all someone can rebut with is a personal attack, it demonstrates that they have no foundation for their position.
Every time The GOP try’s to dis Elizabeth Warren they just end up raising her profile. It’s what made her a U.S. Senator, and could be what makes her president. It has the exact opposite effect they desire, it cracks me up.
Finally, a Senator who’s willing to work and can’t be bought off for a free lunch.
“The people feel this system is rigged against them. ___AND THEY ARE RIGHT!” ___ …Sen. Warren
“Don’t follow her lead. She’s the problem.”
He’s frightened. Scared.
Nothing like a good honest Democrat with a belly full of fire to put the fear of a conflagration into a herd of old worn out elephants.
That Graham was worried his side, the Republicans, won’t be seen as mature enough to govern (is that the new beltway term for “serious”?) if they listen to her cracks me up.
That tells me the “serious” people are concerned about some legit populist type anger.
Shows how articulate and effective she really is. That is some real political talent there, but not just political. It has the ring of so much truth. Graham and Moran can’t stand to have the truth spoken rather than masked in muffling, obfuscating language.
Go, Elizabeth. She could win the presidency.
Lindsey getting his bloomers in a twist.
Roy D. Mercer. RIP
I wish Obama were as combative as Warren.
I love her presentation. She looks so mild mannered, and her speaking style, walks that fine line between passionate and caring without crossing over into shrill (an unfair standard that many women have to deal with). She’s kind of hard to demonize for the Repubs, though they will still try.
Making her look like a fire breather and monster like they do to other strong women on the left won’t work as well with her I think.
Funny how the firebrand with cojones is a woman and the faux moralist nag is a…a…ah…give me a minute…
HOW short-sighted of all those who oppose Warren - expediency will get a bill passed, but the long-run cost is scary. We came SOOOO close to a complete global economic melt-down, thanks to those greedy SOBs with their fancy-shmancy new investment vehicles, which made them rich & impoverished millions.
Next time I get an email from EW with a “Donate” button to click on, I plan to do so. She is willing to tell truth to power.
The President was just as populist and just as eloquent, when he was a candidate. Then he got in and, like other good decent people who get in, realized just how thoroughly owned the government really is. Much as I love Senator Warren – and that is a whole, whole lot – it’s not about finding someone who sees the problem, or about finding someone who can eloquently verbalize it with populist rhetoric.
It’s about finding someone who’s willing to blow up our government even at the risk of a new civil war with the Neanderthal states, because our government has become another branch of the big wealth behind our various corporate masks.
How does calling ThunderclapNewman a nasty name make you any less “Homophobic”? How can you claim the moral high ground by calling others nasty names?
Finally, some transparency…
