Gotta be hard walking around in a hermetically sealed cocoon all the time.

Non-story.

Why is this news? During one of the most profitable weekends of the year they didn’t want to give up four hours of business. End of story.

Couldn’t get a tee time, that’s never happened to anyone before.

This isn’t a news worthy story.

no, i think this one is just business. on one hand, they could advertise that the president played. on the other hand, the logistics around security and turning away other business has to be a freaking mess.

“club managers apparently did not want to inconvenience their high-powered and high-paying members over Labor Day weekend by shutting down their courses to accommodate the president,"

I think that quote makes it a story. The President of the United States wanted to relax and play a game of golf and these courses rejected him why? The President’s race? Big money? Stories like this shed a very ugly light on how things are in our nation. I think people should be made aware of it.

It would be interesting to see if this has happened to other President’s in the past.

because “club managers apparently did not want to inconvenience their high-powered and high-paying members over Labor Day weekend by shutting down their courses to accommodate the president," according to WNBC.

Makes perfect sense to me.

. . . with membership at some area clubs exceeding $100,000, many courses may not have wanted to displace its members on a weekend when they would have wanted to play.

This is about fat cats not being inconvenienced and not about race.

So if it was “W” would the story be the same?

The real story is that President Obama has a golf bag that plays Journey at high volume

Yep!

For once, I don’t think this has to do with his race. They risked irritating their long term members, who apparently pay up to 100,000 for membership. It’s just poor business sense to risk pissing them off, to have the President play there maybe once.

I think it has more to do with the collective attitudes of the members - and their political views, not inconvenience.

I’m sure they would accomadate Bush

I am sure the rich members would have lined up to fellate W as he approached the first tee. Which is odd, I imagine a lot of their portfolios have been greatly improved since Obama has been in office.
