Well, Mark Sanford already blazed this (Appalachian) trail, for southern governors in a sex scandal–deny, disappear, resign, run for Congress.

Self-professed ultra-Christian, evangelical, marriage-is-the-bestest-thing-in-the-world, rightwing politician is caught messing with another woman’s younger private parts on company time? Ho-hum. Another dog-bites-man story. This has seemingly become the rule and not the exception. Our outrage has waned. Somebody needs to spend more time with his/her family, unless that was the cause of all of this frewfraw in the first place.

He’s already sought God’s forgiveness and has been forgiven. Why are you people persecuting him???

But he’s the GUV! The rules don’t apply to him–silly editorial board.

What’s the ex-wife have to say?

I don’t know what’s more lame; losing your job getting some, or losing your job for allegedly getting some and you didn’t actually get some.

“I did not have sexual relations with that woman, Miss Mason!!!”

“And cigars don’t count!!”

Gov Bently, would best serve Alabamians if he were to step down. It appears all of his focus has been standing behind his aide looking at her behind and imagining dirty thoughts, rather than focused on serving the people of Alabama.

Considering he’s a republican, being distracted by an affair might have been a good thing. And remember, she’s not technically his aide; her salary was paid by a lobbying group. Which raises no legal or ethical questions at all, apparently.

Yes, I am aware that she was being paid by a lobbying group and it does raise a lot of ethical issues. So with that said, he not only worshipped the grounds this married woman walked on and he had no problem in letting his citizens being misled to her actual position. In the long run, it appears the lobbyist that she worked for, pimped her out for their own gain! That’s what the legislators should be more concerned about.

Not according to Sarah Palin. Granted I’m aware she’s missing the pull out apparatus, but none the less, she pulled out before her term ended and she hasn’t done anything meaningful since she stepped down as governor of Alaska!

Boy, am I glad I’m gay. Those straight people are disgusting, especially the way they use their religion to gain “special rights”.
And they breed like fucking rats!

Well, It’s hard to pull out after a gallon of Boone’s Farm Strawberry Hill wine in the backseat of a rusted 1978 Pontiac Trans Am. Oh, I’m sorry. I thought we were talking about Bristol Palin.

Contrast the reaction Bentley is getting in Alabama versus the reaction Vitter got in Louisiana. The key difference, I believe, is that Vitter’s seat could potentially have been in play for Democrats whereas it’s an absolute certainty the next Governor in Alabama would be another Republican.

I don’t like to by cynical, but it really saves time.
