Discussion for article #227371
How do these cretins even get to the point of being a candidate for Senate? Nevermind.
Lies and the Lying Liars Who Tell Them
So that âPersonhood Amendmentâ was about taxpayer funding of contraception, huh? Disconnect much?
Longterm dumbing down of AmericansâŚ
Dumbasses elected by dumberasses.
The Mitt R-money approach to winning elections, adopt the policies of your competitor as if they were yours all along.
Early on in this discussion someone pointed out that OTC birth control will not be covered by insurance. So much for the cost aspect. States have also passed legislation allowing pharmacies to refuse to carry womenâs health products. This would make it easier for them to say hey, itâs retail and this stuff wasnât carrying its weight. So much for access.
And how in the hell can he only be behind Hagan by 1%?
And even if birth control IS available OTC and affordable - some
women canât safely take hormone based BC and the alternatives
to those are quite expensive.
It also isnât a real good idea to be taking hormone based
medications (whether female or male) without some guidance
from a qualified doctor. If your health insurance doesnât cover
that counselling, it ainât good health insurance.
Absolutely right, DButch. Fooling around with any hormone-based medication without medical supervision is utter foolishness and I canât imagine any being available OTC.
As for this idiotic âpersonhoodâ crap â any qualified doctor (along with the âGood Bookâ which these numbskulls profess to regard as gawdâs word) will tell you that life begins when baby takes first breath OUTSIDE the womb.
The follow up question is why Republicans havenât taken up a bill in the House if they really want this. They couldnât have even one bill amongst 50 repeals of Obamacare?
Women have been taking birth control pills since the early 60s with little or no problems. I think it is pretty safe considering the alternative of an unwanted pregnancy.
If theyâre trying to neutralize Hobby Lobby, itâs not going to work.
âPersonhood amendmentsâ are utter nonsense, but I fail to understand why denying taxpayers funding of a private entity like Planned Parenthood and supporting over the counter birth control is in any way âquite a turnaroundâ.
Itâs not a turnaround. Mel has ALWAYS wanted his mistress to be able to get birth control OTC.
Everyone else, not so much.
And as soon as they win election watch their opinion radically change to "no birth control available under ANY circumstances. Unfortunately there are plenty of stupid people out there that will buy this garbage
âEveryone knows that my key drivers to moving health care policies is improving access and reducing costs and improving outcomes. This position on contraception actually fits all three of those categories.â
So did the arcane notion of access to health care across state lines to reduce cost, defunding Planned Parenthood to prevent access to contraceptives, supporting personhood amendments to improve outcomes and allowing private insurers the option to kill the patient with co-pays and deductibles.
âThe editorial noted that the sudden vocal support among Republicans for over-the-counter birth control has the pungent odor of politickingâ
Skunks, the whole lot of them. The Observer knew that, the voters donât care and these critters perfume up whenever they can, uncontested. The war on truth turned on a penny and the war on women turned on a dime.
Itâs just another GOP give-away to insurance companies.
I have experienced maybe 4 decades of debates with various anti-abortion people, and just about every single one of them admitted that access to birth control is not only good but important. There was always an âof courseâ feel to their position, and I had no doubt the position was sincere.
Until lately.
The sudden shoving of contraception into the same camp as abortion is a violent shift and, Iâm convinced, precipitated almost entirely by Obamacare. The fact that differentiating between the two is now considered âtreason,â pandering and so on, shows just how politically correct (in the true sense of the term) the Republican positions have become.
al franken is and was one hell of an author and rush Limbaugh is a big fat idiotâŚIm just sayin
Itâs safe-ish compared to pregnancy, but heck, so is skydiving. Youâd want people at the very least to have a workup from their doc before starting on the pill. It would take years at least for the FDA to work this one out and make a solid plan.
But really, this is just complete throw-crap-at-the-wall by republicans. These are the same people who screamed bloody murder at making Plan B available over the counter, who tried to outlaw RU-486, who have cut funding for both contraception and prenatal care in every state where theyâve had the chance. Iâve got a whole portfolio of bridges to sell to anyone who thinks the GOP would follow through with this meme.
