True, but the press corpse (I like that) will challenge Democrats on what kinds of jobs are being created. They will say, “but the jobs are in the service and entertainment industries, they’re not good jobs and they don’t really count.” Never in my life can I remember a time when the media actually gave a shit about exact kinds of jobs being created, not until scary black president who is scary came along. Now it suddenly matters.
They were indeed disappointed. Before the conference, one wondered how Obama would look (guess he was hoping Obama would come in the room crying holding a box of tissues). President Obama did not give them what they (and the rightwing media) they so desperately wanted - they haven’t “broke” him after all.
Yeah, but as Joni would say, “that’s your opinion”. That’s the kind of stupidity with which we’re dealing.
I am sooooo sick of my fellow liberals and Democrats…if you are not going to stand up and shout about what this president HAS accomplished then you get what happened on Tuesday…but just sit around screaming at the moon about warrantless wiretaps while the republicans take over the world!
Precisely. You hit the nail right on the head. And yes there is certainly a significant element of racism in the way the media reacts to this president compared to previous ones. And that includes asking absurd questions that are essentially provided to them by the RNC.
Well…OK, but I’m still in a vulnerable space with all the Dem defeats and all the hurtful Obama bashing. OK OK, I’ll be nice.
Voted for Hagan of course. She ran a good campaign and her staff helped me out about a year ago with a VA issue up in Winston Salem NC. And my wife manned the phone banks for the last month. She’s well liked here and did not run away from the president. Tillis offered nothing, had no charisma, stumbled often in the debates but tied her to the pres like Giuliani did with noun, verb, 911. But it was $$$$$$ that made the difference - most expensive Senate campaign in American history. Without CU she would have won easily.
And they are not going to break him, because unlike the political whores that dominate Washington, Obama is not angling for a future job on Wall Street or some special-interest lobbying firm.
Just as his wife said several years ago, he is not a politician but a community organizer exploring the viability of the political arena as an avenue for change.
He stuck his neck out, going against the political currents, and stood up for the powerless and the disenfranchised – those folks not represented by lobbyists or political action committees.
No good deed goes unpunished…
As they say, no honor in his own country.
Exactly.
“That’s your opinion” – in other words, continue the campaign to discredit the independent media as any type of representative of the public interest.
I am sure the FOX news headline from this is going to be “Unemployment rate remains higher then average.”
They know their viewers are too stupid to understand what a lagging indicator is.
Warrantless wiretaps, which were outlawed in 2008.
Yes you are right that I forgot the Reverend Al. I notice that there are times when he stands up to the likes of Mathews and others at MSNBC, when they spew their right wing crap. As for Mathews, I do not know what to say about that man any more. He just loves to spout off constantly and hear himself talk. One day he loves Obama, and the next day he is trashing him, and one day he tells the truth about how low down and dirty the teabags are, and the next he is applauding them for their evil tactics. I stopped being able to watch him some time back.
That’s been the GOP strategy since 2005 – distance themselves from GWB the person, but persist in supporting the policies of his administration: lower taxes and fewer regulations on the rich and on corporations, a reliance on unilateralist militarism over diplomacy, an obsession with (nearly nonexistent) voter fraud, an energy policy that favors fossil fuels over renewables, an attack on public education, organized labor, government workers, scientists, the media, etc.
I could not agree with you more, and I just fired off an angry email to the DNC telling them that too. The Dems did not lose because of the President. They lost because they allowed the media to decide for them how to run their campaigns, and because Dem strategists and consultants all suck and need to be in the unemployment line.
Who amongst us thinks that the article would’ve been a tad longer if we had lost 214,000 jobs?
Jesus, we would’ve been subjected to an entire, this is just like Bush soliloquy.
