Discussion: Earnest: Sanders Wasn't Surprised By Obama's Endorsement Of Clinton

Ya think? Of course the White House told Bernie. If not before, then when he asked for a meeting with the President. Come on, folks, news does not mean stating the obvious.

ā€œObama endorsed Clinton in a web video released by Clinton’s campaign shortly after he met with Sanders Thursday at the White House. After their meeting, Sanders vowed to stay in the race.ā€

No complaints, but the timing does have a bit of a ā€œyou don’t have to go home, but you can’t stay hereā€¦ā€ vibe to it.

I read the Sanders stuff and it sounded like he’s gonna stay in for DC and then suspend. The strident ā€œSuperdelegates haven’t voted yet!ā€ stuff was not there this time.

Yeah, I wouldn’t want to put myself out there speculating on what Bernie is or is not surprised by.

A lot of this boils down to the principles of civility, which saves a lot of human conflict from escalating, at all levels of human interaction. Most adults know this.

Kids on the playground don’t…and neither do people who think B-movie Westerns reflect reality.

Depressing the vote! Depressing the vote! Obama is guilty of voter depression.

That sounds like the smart play: he can finish the race with his head held up, and without having to suspend. That’s a huge win.

He already won the right to have his people put on the platform committee; and I’ll bet that the President was able to further sweeten the pot: more prime time appearances during the convention, perhaps?

It’ll be up to Secretary Clinton to deliver the final pieces of the deal - throw the weight of a Clinton White House behind bills he’ll introduce?

(And the last bit - a sealed envelope with her Goldman Sachs transcripts :))

Very nice, Josh. I don’t think anyone should be surprised and/or ā€˜hurt’ by this announcement. He acknowledges that Bernie is well and able to make his own decisions and so is the President.

After 8 YEars OF DICTAtororial OVERREAch and Socialistic UTOPIary, WHAT do YOU ExpeCT? I understand FROM sOURces that post_presidency, HE"s undERTAKING a Mission TO FINd HIS HAwaII BIrth CERtificate. THE Long FORm one WITh the raised seal.

Obama spanks Bernie. Good, he deserved it. Please sir I want another…

Also, President Obama isn’t the man’s biggest fan and has been quietly pushing for Clinton for 2 months…

If Bernie were shocked by this endorsement, he’d be the only person in American…

How much are you being paid to post this crap?

I’m glad folks are happy about the Platform Committee, but honestly Platforms don’t really mean a thing. When a President walks into the Oval Office reality of how things work sets in. That’s why many of us agree with Bernie’s ideas, but without the House, Senate and Supreme Court, we get squat. And one thing I’ve seen over this primary season is that Dem Party members had a problem with Bernie joining the party so he could run. Hillary has been there all along. She has worked hard for the last couple of years to get her delegates on board. I am totally impressed with how she has done it. She learned from 2008 big time.

I’m afraid you’ve been had. Eustace is our resident satirist of all things Red State and far right rhetoric in general.

Well in print the tone is lost. Why don’t you use ā€œsnarkā€ so we know?

Poe’s law in operation. A beautiful sight to behold.

Hint: needs more random punctuation.
