Discussion: Earnest: Obama Told Dems To Engage With GOP If It Reverses On ACA Repeal

If Republicans become willing to “change their tune” and discuss adapting and improving the healthcare law, Earnest said, it would be “a conversation of an entirely different color.”

Different color indeed.

Obama still clings to the dream of cooperating Republicans.

Damn straight, after Jan 20th it won't be a conversation with the colored guy in the room! Right Zeke!? Nudge, nudge, get it!? The colored guy!!? Oh gawd, I crack myself up!!

He knows otherwise, but someone has to be the adult in the room and at least pretend to represent a functioning government. Otherwise, he might as well have just thrown up his hands, walked out the door, and spent the entirety of his second term playing golf, which is what Fox viewers think he’s been doing all along.

No, this is about prepping for the mid-terms. “We offered to help if you didn’t slam your fist down on the self-destruct button, but you did.”

The problem is that the r’s will market their repeal, with no replacement, as trying to “improve” the law.
Couple that with the absolute worthlessness of any promise, oath or committment that they make and this is a path to ruin for the d’s.
Only comprimise must be a “you first” situation where before the d’s even open discussions the r’s committ publicly and loudly with legislative action that they are committed to keeping the bulk of the ACA, including all associated taxes that pay for it.
The R’s won’t do that and anything else would be a repeat of soo many of the r’s dishonesty.
Not even discussions until they reverse their course in a solid non reversible way.

No. Really not. They’re injecting counter-messaging into the DC MSM echo chamber to undermine and preempt the nascent Republican efforts to preemptively blame the catastrophe that will follow from repeal on Democrats. That’s what press secretaries do. That’s the significance of the fact that this statement is emanating from the press secretary to the White House press corpse in a daily briefing.

And indeed, since these low-brow losers have been told that everything with the ACA is horrible and job-killing, it might be a little difficult to suggest keeping any of it: throw it all out.

Hopefully, that full repeal will come just one day before they’ve been diagnosed with cancer in the worst place.

Then GOP leadership needs to be reminded that they have 8 plans to choose from.

TPM isn’t giving you the full story.

In the closed-door meeting, the President urged fellow Democrats to not “rescue” Republicans by helping them pass replacement measures, according to sources in the room.
He also floated this idea: Start referring to the GOP’s new plan as “Trumpcare.”

In fairness, TPM was just reporting on what the White House press secretary said to the White House press corpse in a daily briefing about that meeting. “Giving the full story” is like the opposite of the press secretary’s job description, regardless of party or the identify of the occupant.

Yeah. I wasn’t trying to be snarky, just meant that there are aspects to the story other than what TPM presented. Bad phrasing. I do that sometimes.
