An awful lot of the duties of his job apparently have come as a surprise to the minority president.
I will be interested in watching whether the foot draggers in Congress who don’t think an investigation of Trump is needed will now leap to the opportunity to investigate Obama. I think they might be having some tummy aches this morning, because, you know, one thing could lead to the other.
it would require FBI investigators, officials of the Department of Justice, going to a federal judge and making a case and demonstrating probable cause to use that authority to conduct the investigation," he said. “That is a fact.”
Trump: Fake news. I live in a Alt-Fact world. No Facts allowed.
Anyone doubt that Trump will try to order wiretaps himself on his opponents?
“This may come as some surprise to the current occupant of the Oval Office, but the president of the United States does not have the authority to unilaterally order the wiretapping of an American citizen,” Earnest said on ABC’s “This Week.”
Nice ! I like Earnest
Says Earnest, “This may come as some surprise to the current occupant of the Oval Office…”
Actually, Trump at this moment prefers to occupy his Florida Berghof.
“This may come as some surprise to the current occupant of the Oval Office…”
That’s pretty much how most of the reality-based universe comes at Trump.
Pick a subject, any subject.
“The First Hundred Daze.”
Has it only been 40+ days since we had a witty, intelligent, urbane White House Press Secretary? Seems like a year.
He probably already thinks he has. Bannon lets him sign the papers, then takes them back to his office and pretends to do something with them.
Another Ukrainian in the convoluted Trump-Putin story has died
Saturday Mar 04, 2017
Alex Oronov apparently was the person who arranged the meeting where the secret and bizarre peace plan was hatched — which would give Putin the U.S’s blessing to keep the Crimea, among other things — that ended up on Mike Flynn’s desk before his resignation.
Four of the six dead Russian diplomats are named in MI-6 agent Chris Steele’s Trump Dossier.
As has been pointed out, in Trumpworld, there are no institutions, only individuals. If the FBI asked for a warrant while Obama was president, Obama asked for a warrant. Because that’s how morons view the world, that’s how authoritarians think government works and Trump is both a moron and an authoritarian.
But it’s not just Trump. This view of the world is pervasive on the modern Tea Party dumbass right, and, to be fair, it’s a pretty widespread view among the Unicorn Mounted Purity Warriors of the modern left. And people you think of as sophisticated share it. People who think 'government should run like a business," including people like, say, Theil, are deeply invested into this worldview. It’s why they think large company CEO’s are worth the vast sums they are paid.
It’s what was behind the IRS “scandal.” It’s what was behind the Fast and Furious “scandal.” It’s what was behind the relentless Benghaaazzzziiiii! and Solyndra “scandals.” Both within the base and among the hard right moronic members of Congress, it’s all personal. This is what made those “scandals” so incomprehensibly stupid to us and so very real and emotionally resonant to them. It wasn’t all just a cynical throwing of shit against the wall hoping some would stick. Their worldview was such that nothing happened within or through government except by and through the president’s will and at his order and thus they truly believed Dictator Obama was doing all the things they said he was. Because that’s how they think the world works.
And that should scare the shit out of us because it’s not just a sign of stupidity. It’s an indication of how they are now, at this moment, trying to run the government. And the reality is that they are going to be far more successful in doing that than we think possible because, as Frum pointed out in his Atlantic thumbsucker, far more than most people realize, our system depends upon the personal character of the man in the Oval. That’s why other countries that have tried our separation of powers system have so often ended up descending into dictatorship.
But it also means that there will be many instances where they will be enraged because the institutions will resist their attempts to supplant process, procedure and the rule of law with the fuhrerprinzip.
Josh! Buddy – we miss you!!
“Surprise to the current occupant.” Two sarcastic insults in the space of five words. Love love love it.
It May ‘Come As Some Surprise’ To Trump
Surprised is and understatement:
Surprised He even got the job
Surprised he didn’t have 300 million at the inauguration
Surprised there is more to the gov’t then him
Surprised the world is watching
Surprised he is accountable, furor’s don’t understand the concept
Surprised he can’t remember the last time he told the truth
Surprised that no one in a reality based world believes what he says or tweets
Surprised the world just didn’t drop to it’s knees and bow to him.
Surprised that the job requires more than a CEO mentality.
ON and ON I could go, but I am not surprised he is right where he positioned himself in this whole mess of an administration.
Obviously killed by Obama agents who don’t want anyone interviewing them to confirm that they never, ever, ever even heard of Trump, let alone talked to him or his esteemed colleagues!
Which of the mainstream news outlets will be first to question the mental health of the 45th POTUS?
You mean the guy his classmates at Connecticut College called “Sean Sphincter” isn’t witty, intelligent, or urbane?
Knock me over with a feather…
Out of plain human kindness would someone with access conduct an intervention for Donnie? I mean the poor man needs some serious therapy. But then even that may not be helpful enough.
Well consider that none of the four necessary words are more than 4 letters.
can’t do that sir
