Given that all his supporters and cabinet officers kneel before Trump, I just don’t see what the big deal is.

This is a little like the vet with ptsd in the back row who can’t take notes for some reason and who doesn’t benefit from extra time on proctored exams with Student Services and baits the professor behind his back and goes for drinks with the much younger persuadable students every afternoon and demands that the next exam be canceled (which it was not) and complains to the chair and the associate dean and has a fiery confrontation with the professor in a resolution session in a room full of administration types who totally keeps his cool and writes a formal complaint and demand for a passing grade and doesn’t get it and takes the accelerated class during the summer and fails that too.
My point: don’t cancel the exam.

Again, the AP and TPM get the headline wrong. These are not protests of the national anthem as the headline suggests but protests DURING the national anthem.
Simply change the lazy headline and you remove Hair Furor’s narrative:

That’s not a very good analogy IMO. Exams are a necessary part of learning, the national anthem is not a necessary part of a sporting event. For example, in the English Premier League, they do NOT play “God Save the Queen” before a match. Because when Chelsea plays Arsenal they are representing clubs, not Britain. Even if Chelsea plays Real Madrid in the Champions League they don’t play the anthems. Only when the teams are national teams does it make sense.

Good point, but mine is that singing the National Anthem is one of those few public events at which everybody has to impatiently wait to get through it and hates the singer doing runs and adlibs and adding extra notes together regardless of political affiliation. While it’s not always fun to do, it really is an obligation and strengthens the Union.
Nope, sorry, he has none of that kind of thinking, identifying in any way with another person, in particular a black person. This is all about subjugation, forcing the black players to respect the idolatry of the flag that he claims as an avatar of his authority. For him, respecting the flag is respecting his occupancy is respecting his self.
Making players stand and salute is for Trump absolutely no different than the old Jim Crow rules forcing black men to remove their hats when speaking with a white person, avoid looking at their eyes, and end every sentence with a “sir” or ma’am".

I am sick of flags and anthems, and have been that way for most of my life. I was awarded the Bronze Star for heroism,Purple Heart for getting shot up and received an honorable discharge. I think that these kinds of displays are bullshit and a farce, lets go back to the days in which we did not fall for the fucked up propaganda.

Oh, c’mon, you have to admit when you read about how we incinerated 200,000 women, children and elderly in Japan back in August of '45 your heart swells with pride and patriotism.
Sure, that might have the same salutary effect and the kids would love it too.
