Discussion: Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson Joins Critics Of Under Armour CEO's Pro-Trump Remark

On top of that, I think the Rock is actually a Republican, so that adds a little to the context.

I see. Under Armour. Another brand to boycott.

CEO (Idiot-White): Trump ā€œan asset to the countryā€

How can anyone with a position of responsibility reach this conclusion, even if you liked Trump?

I wish TPM had included and highlighted Steph Curry’s remarks instead of the Rock’s. Steph said something like ā€œhe is an asset, if you get rid of the etā€. He’s been strong in pushing back against the CEO and will probably lose a fat endorsement but doesn’t seem to give a damn. My respect for him shot through the roof.

Why is this a surprise? UnderArmour sells clothing that exults an odd militarized, jingo-nationalist, camo-sexual fashion! Chickenhawk Couture.

So I’m 92% serious on this: if The Rock ran for president in 2020, he’d win, and it probably wouldn’t be all that close. I’m not sure it would matter which party he joined.

I’m entertaining this idea more seriously than I should be: I think the Democrats should recruit The Rock to run for president in 2020. Because he seems like a decent enough dude, sure, but mostly because HE’D WIN.

Sometimes you go to elections with the electorate you have.

Ass-et

They’re basically a brand rather than something that offers value. I’ve never seen the point.

I didnt know who Curry was but after reading about what he said, I am surprised that anyone (other than me that is  ) can be so emphatic and clear with sound basis. That too at a relatively very young age. Admirable, yes.

correction: he’s an asshat

Don’t get on the wrong side of The Rock …

None of the three has severed ties with the company.

Hey you can only go so far calling out a source of income!

And then he’d probably get decent folks around him that knew what the hell they were doing unlike, well you know,

Where on a corporate balance sheet does ā€œasset to the countryā€ come down? Looks like it’s on the debit side from here.

And @buckguy: so far they’re the only ones I can find who sell the 7" running shorts. I hate those knee-plus length baggies. I need to be able to move without that crap.

Misty Copeland’s remarks were very thoughtful and eloquent.

I think a Al Franken 2020 campaign would be far more amusing. "He’s smart enough, good enough…

If Under Armour drops him or The Rock, Nike or Adidas will be right there to scoop them up. They both know this, so they won’t mind taking more shots at the CEO or Trump. Good for them. So, I suppose it’s safe to say that the UA CEO just smelled what The Rock was cookin’?

Sorry…had to do it.

…and to the point.

It’s possible that Misty Copeland’s ā€˜brand’ is now more valuable to her than her sponsorship with UnderArmour. That sponsorship paid them back when she became a principal dancer and her UnderArmour ad went viral. Plank needs to listen.
