Discussion: Durbin: Kavanaugh's HS Drinking 'Has To Be Part Of Any Relevant Questioning'

$5 says Kavanaugh will deny (lie) about any drinking in High School, because that just never happens, especially in fancy prep schools of the white and privileged.

I’m sure Ms Ford and friends will lay that idea to waste.

Ah, the elusive SCOTUS trifecta. gambling, drinking along with a dash of perjury…

And for an added bonus, attempted rape…

The GOP thinks vetting is something you do in sports car…

Good - apparently he doesn’t want to talk about it and that’s exactly why you need to ask questions about it.

Use of alcohol is a question asked in government security investigations. So why not for SCOTUS too?

Senator Kennedy did ask him about it

I’m sure 65 people will come forward to say it was all communion wine, sipped with reverence.

I disagree with the senator. As a straight arrow in high school, I neither smoked, took drugs or drank - but plenty of my friends did and they were all smart, funny, good people.
What is at issue, is a man who demonstrates his entitlement to women’s bodies enough to commit a criminal act.
Then, in subsequent years, shows in every way that he still thinks that women have no agency over their bodies by voting against every issue that could be seen to benefit women as a class.
The point in not high school ā€˜misjudgement’ or ā€˜vile act’ - but a lifetime of perpetuating this legally in every way he can.
Plus his gambling problem, which should disbar him anyway.

I’m glad their pointing and laughing didn’t seem to have had a permanent effect on you.

If Kavanaugh is honorable, and if he is guilty, as every Republican clearly believes, then have him tell the truth and then hold the vote.

he would be a Democrat.

Fixed your sentence for you.

There is no honor in the modern Republican Party.

a) half of them were my friends
b) there was plenty to point and laugh at regarding yours truly in high school without the hilarity of terminal un-coolness caused by not toking

This has caused me to wonder about his current drinking habits.

You hit it on the ā€œnoseā€. He doesn’t look like a light drinker.

O me too. Someone who was a blackout drunk in high school didn’t just decide to start drinking in moderation later in his life and make that work.

If you were blackout drunk in high school, you had a problem that didn’t just go away.

I bet he would get very flustered if asked questions about his current drinking. That entitled stupid twit is obviously barely keeping his self control.

It’s a WH leak and why the WH is leaking unfavorable shit about Kav I don’t know.

They should just give this guy a toga instead of a robe if his nomination goes through.

They’re trying to put a positive spin on why he will refuse to answer certain critical questions.

From the article-- ā€œā€œI’m not going to answer that,ā€ Kavanaugh said at one point according to a senior White House official, who said that the questions were designed to go over the line and that he struck the right tone.ā€

They know that having him say ā€œI don’t recallā€ or ā€œI am not going to answer thatā€ when it comes to things is not going to make him sound credible. So they’re doing a soft pitch to see if the press will buy off on boundaries to the questions.
