Nixon was in trouble for coordinating a break in of the Democratic National Committee. Darrell Issa and Sean Spicer are questioning what the crime is that needs investigating … yet how is coordinating the cyber break-in of the DNC email really any different. In fact, it would appear to be EXACTLY the same crime …
It is exactly time for a special prosecutor to investigate this issue.
The parallels with the Nixon campaign really need to be clearly laid out … if you investigated one break in, you really have to investigate the other. Hard to argue with that very simple logic.
"One of the challenges we have is a special prosecutor exists when you
have an individual under suspicion. Currently we don’t have that,” Issa
said in an interview with CBS News.
…
Ummm yes we do have someone under suspicion Mr Issa…He resides at 1600 Pennsylvania Ave and also in a fancy gilded tower in Manhattan. Include his campaign staff also Mr Issa.
Not when he has access to the operating funds. DT’s long history of stiffing those who work for him is being carried forward to stiffing the tax payer to fund his family’s extravagant lifestyle. Consider it cost us $100 million to protect the Obama’s for 8 years and so far its cost $10 million for each weekend at Mar-a-Lago. It is way cheaper if DT stays at the White house. But the the SS has to protect Trump Tower anyway.
To me the whole charade of trump as POTUS is just wrong. From beginning thru the campaign to now…just wrong. We’ve been dragged into an alternate universe and I don’t like it at all.
There has never been anyone less fit to be POTUS that DT. Nobody…not even George Bush. Bush would be a significant upgrade as would Nixon were he still around. And it is hard for me to believe I just said that.
You just made me realize this is probably the most coordinated, clear message to have come out of the Trump Administration so far, including the campaign.
Hmm. Interesting.
That probably means it’s coming from somewhere else. The Trump Admin’s specialty is conflicting chaos. This is probably coordinated on the Repub. Congress end.
The Logan Act most definitely applies here! It’s amazing how many ‘criminal’ violations the T’s have amassed, without (so far) any consequence. I hope we can change that! To reset and maintain precedents.
The bigger issue with regard to Russia is what is the current situation. Putin and the gang are situationally flexible, and Trump’s victory was likely as much a surprise to them as the rest of us. In other words, the primary purpose of influencing the election was to weaken Hillary. Such meddling for hearts and minds will be a permanent feature of elections going forward, because a) cheap, b) effective, and c) deniable. In short, the shock and awe approach to the election was similar to that used in the Brexit vote. Russia may have contributed, but you have multiple factors, not least Bannon’s bots and the people behind that.
IMO, Durbin might want to look at the wider implications of a Putinesque US politics, the rise of criminal capitalism, and our own oligarchy. We’ve allowed looters in, which is only tangential to Russia’s interests. Obama and Merkel, who gives zero truck to Putin, shared similar views. Now we have Trump and Putin, with Merkel on the outside. So in that sense, Trump is a huge geopolitical win for Russia.
I think we need a joint select committee first before a special prosecutor. We need people like Al Franken to lay it all out for the people and connect the dots and demand that people be prosecuted based on the hearing evidence. I think that progression would serve the country well.
There is nothing else to investigate, we learn from Spice. So great! They should be most gleefully clamouring for a special prosecutor to hurry and clear all their good names!
Senator Durbin should also charge the investigation with assessing wheter RasPutin and Russian intelligence were involved in selecting Rex Tillorsen as Secretary State, Wilbur Ross as Secretary of Commerce and Neil Gorsuch to the Supreme Court.
Putin bestowed the Russian Order of Freedom Medal on Rex Tillorsen. Wilbur Ross was Vice President of the bank whose CEO was Putin’s friend and an expert on money laundering.
