This is SO confusing. I thought the Republicans detested those “Hollywood” types. And look at that picture - who wouldn’t want that as the face of a better future???

What about Bundy and bringing him back in the fold? Why not two idiots instead of one?

Ah, right. I was trying to remember who had bridged the chronological gap in the litany of “salt of the earth” objects of conservative hero worship between Joe the Plumber and Cliven Bundy (not counting Sarah Palin). I knew there was someone I was forgetting about. Thank you, TPM, for reminding me.

Well why the hell not? I mean, Palin’s spoken at these things before, and he couldn’t possibly say anything dumber than what she’s said.

sure - and then have a panel discussion with Clint Eastwood, Mel Gibson, Victoria Jackson and a few others.

They continue to prove that they are strictly a regional party. If this is the best you can do to challenge your party to come forward with new ideas, you are really in trouble. Just because these guy made a lot of money with their program only proves to what extent the Republican Party has managed to dumb down America in the last 30 years. They want uneducated, low information people because they are easier to hoodwink and control. Mission accomplished.

How’s that minority outreach working, GOP?

Not like this isn’t a completely transparent attempt on both sides to cash in on notoriety…and in the case of the Robertson’s, do anything to save their nosediving ratings.

Capitalism, huzzah! O_o

and that duck dynasty teevee franchise has tanked in the ratings… only mouth-breathing teatards are tuning in; he’s the perfect spokesmodel for the modern day gop.

The full list so far:

Donald Trump, Rick Perry, Newt Gingrich, Bobby Jindal, Ted Cruz, Reince Priebus, Michele Bachmann, Rick Santorum, Mike Lee, Allen West, Marsha Blackburn and Ron Johnson.

Quite a brain trust, huh?
These are the people they’ve chosen to showcase and use as a draw for a fundraising event.
They’ve actually taken stock of their base and concluded that this is who they want to see carry the banner for the Republican party into the future.
How can a rational person not feel insulted by receiving an invitation?

What will Phil do when he enters the conference hall and sees Republican leaders adoring a golden calf???

I’ve lived in Louisiana.

“the adulterers, the idolaters, the male prostitutes, the homosexual offenders, the greedy, the drunkards, the slanderers, the swindlers”

That’s pretty much everyone there. And without them, LSU football games would suck.

Ya know we do not do ourselves any favors by implicating
that this guy is a favorite of all conservatives.
Don’t insult the moderate conservatives who we want on our side.
It’s about elections - not annialation.

Better headline would be -
“Moderate Republicans skip leadership conference over headliner”

Dude really lives in Louisiana? Has he BEEN to New Orleans and Red Stick?

They actually invented sin itself between Canal and Esplanade and license it to everyone else. Big money maker.

No swindlers? What about a yuppie that grows a hermit beard, and goes mountain man so he can get on TV to make money?

TPM why do you usually leave out the horrible racist comments the made in the same interview? They were at least as troubling if not more so (and I’m saying that as a gay man).

At least they can turn it into a homophobe fest. Maybe this is part of their re-branding. Bringing their hate to the forefront.
