Discussion: Drones Interfering With Emergency Responders Are Becoming 'Huge Issue'

Discussion for article #239279

I have a hard time imagining that a 24" x 24" piece of Styrofoam and plastic (with a small camera) could cause any significant problems with aircraft large enough to carry human passengers.

Why would any would-be terrorist even bother with explosives? Just buy a small drone.

Remember this guy?

Perhaps he has a place in the Forest Service antiaircraft division.

Yes, they’re onto that.

Is this based on your 10,000 hours of flying and easily swatting down pieces of “Styrofoam and plastic” that caused no problems? Maybe you should be volunteering to fly to help out since drones are not an issue for your ace piloting skillz.

SHOOT THEM DOWN! (You try being more descriptive-TPM! I got my point across in three little words)

Engines sucking in an object like that would fail catastrophically. Impacting windshield at speed could fracture/break. It would be lovely if you could just run over the damn things and be done with it, but physics is an unforgiving bitch.

If the Feds and States wanted they could pass amendments to existing laws making interference with drones same as interference with emergency services. But instead as an example we’ll have the 55th or so ACA repeal nonsense laws… it is all politics.

A few birds bought a plane into the Hudson River.

We definitely need some laws and regulation for these things before this gets too far out of hand.

Yes. Yes it is.

"Technology can only do so much," he said. "At a certain point, common sense needs to take hold."

Yea … right —
