The only reason I can fathom for Nunes wanting to know the identity of the person or organization who commissioned the dossier is to smear that entity.
Classic diversionary tactic when you can’t argue with the facts in the dossier itself. If anything, this maneuver by Nunes underlines the importance and authenticity of the dossier. I hope the judge sees that Nunes has gone rogue and, for practical purposes, is not a part of the House Committee.
Perhaps an attempt at two-for-one. Find grounds to discredit the source and with the base further give rationale to discount the whole dossier, AND fill out Trump’s current crazy narrative that this was actually a conspiracy with the Dems, Russia and the FBI to… not clear what they were conspiring to do - and why they would conspire to make Trump win the election - but there it is. Projection: Dems Fault!!
The dossier was commissioned by Jeb Bush’s campaign—common knowledge to those with the ability to think ( a group that does not include Nunes) and proof that Nunes is just trying to cause trouble and change the subject now that most of the dossier has been proved correct.
As if there aren’t enough Trump created distractions.
And as if there were a way for Nunes to just end the investigations.
He’s just not that smart, that one. Sort of like a dotard wannabe.
Good point. The only reason to fish for the client´s name would be in order to smear the report by association. The only reason to use that tactic to smear the report is that one couldn´t effectively rebut the content.
Nunes is a like a piece of toilet paper stuck to the bottom of your shoe, except the toilet paper had a purpose at one point.
Considering who was the dossier’s initial client, I’d welcome this distraction.
He needs to go! I sure hope his district replaces him next year!
Vote 2018
If anti-Trump Republicans were really serious about cleaning up their party they’d have a strong primary contender already lined up.
And the assigned judge is …
Can’t wait to see Trump’s nickname for her.
Interesting. A federal judge can’t quash a congressional subpoena, so the lawyers are trying to block it at the other end by having the judge block the bank from releasing the information. Cool if it works.
This is just so bizarre to me. I mean, the man had to fake recuse himself because of his prior meddling. One would think he’d realize that he’s already drawn too much attention to himself, but he just keeps dipping into the investigation in the most hilariously obvious attempts to derail it. It’s so blatant, so ridiculous that it’s almost child-like. He’s the kid standing there with chocolate all over his face and hands vigorously denying having eaten the chocolate cake. This guy deserves his own episode of America’s Dumbest Criminals.

[/quote]I bet that anyone named in the dossier, especially Trump, recognizes all or 95% of the activities and communications described in it as being completely accurate accounts of things they did and said. Attack those who commissioned it, attack Steele, attack Fusion, blame Obama, Hillary, Jeb, the FBI, Comey, the IC and any other “enemies” of Trump - it’s their only option.
ETA: And this option might work with 30-35% of the country, and with enough dimwitted members of the House (like Nunes) to stave off impeachment.
I agree, but must mention that when discussing “smearing”, that the current occupant’s BFF defines that word in a more proactive, Mob-like sense. And we all know how much our dear leader likes to emulate Vlad.
I’m about done thinking “It can’t happen here”.
I guess that’s what I find so hilarious about Nunes’ behavior. He doesn’t know what in the dossier is true and may be proven at a later date. Other people would simply take a hands off approach. Don’t get too involved or wrapped up in this thing only to get embarrassed later. Not Devin. If/when the shit hits the fan he’s gonna make damn certain he’s standing under it with his mouth open.
Almost as if he’s being forced by some outside actor to do things that otherwise make no sense, isn’t it?
Hey, he’s from the San Joaquin Valley. Probably been inhaling and ingesting pesticide residue for years.
He does look as if he’s hypnotized or in a trance most of the time.
