Reoccurring headlines like this ‘Roiling the Wisconsin GOP’ just annoy me.
This is just wasted reporting IMHO. Trump’s base is locked into the nosedive and they feel if he can just be given enough time and support that Trump will pull the plane out before it craters.
It is the blind belief of a cult.
Check out this article from the Times: ‘How Broad, and How Happy, Is the Trump Coalition? By Nate Cohn and Alicia Parlapiano, AUG. 9, 2018.
One takeaway: 82% of Trump voters remain very enthusiastic about him today.
Trump voters will happily drink the Kool-Aid even though there is a big sign above the communal punch bowl that says ‘WARNING, DEADLY TO ECONOMIC HEALTH AND FINANCIAL WELL-BEING’.
Trumps base needs to suffer and suffer badly and even then they will just blame it on Obama, Soros and the Deep state.
Here’s the thing about Wisconsin these days: The only thing worse than trade wars and low farm prices is having a D after your name on the ballot. I have no hope of the political landscape shifting in Wisconsin anytime soon. Walker and the Republican’t legislature have cemented too many electoral barriers in place to prevent Democrats from being elected without a massive influx of new voters, and I just don’t see that happening in a non-presidential election.
He said he thought most Republican-leaning voters are willing to deal with some short-term economic pain to give Trump some time to figure things out, and doesn’t think it’s fair that others who voted for Trump are now unhappy with him doing what he promised to do.
Classic example of the cognitive dissonance created by gas lighting.
I appreciate the classic Harley Davidson and its’ history, but they’re so obnoxiously loud. I can’t stand that about them. Sitting in an outdoor cafe and one roars by makes me cringe. Love to photograph them though, as they are beautiful. And for the ladies, they are a vibrator on wheels.
A tRump branded Hog would have an extra wide seat to handle the extra a$$, and a mirror instead of a speedometer, because who needs to know how fast you’re going when you can just look at yourself.
I wonder if Walker and his friends’ biggest nightmare might be in the future. One big hissy-fit Trump tariff on Chinese goods could blow up the entire Foxconn deal, and Cheeseheads may be building an infrastructure to nowhere. Unfortunately, good people get hurt in situations like this, but it is possible that Walker has made one too many deals with one too many devils, and one of them has come to collect.
In the first incarnation of Mythbusters they actually tested the myth of the bull in the china shop. They set up a bunch of shelves in a pen and filled them with pottery, expecting hilarity to follow. The bulls were actually pretty careful around the shelves: they knew how they fit into the space around them and didn’t knock much of anything over.
Contrast this Mango Mussolini’s behavior: he’s truly an agent of KAOS. Where is Maxwell Smart when you really need him…
“You don’t send a bull into a china shop and hope for a whole plate at the end,” North said."
“Are we seeing things that we like in the short term? Obviously, lower prices aren’t anything any farmer wants to see. But we’re all looking at this with a very long-term mindset,” he said."
“A lot of people are still in support of what Trump did,” said North. “But maybe they disagree with the tactics he’s taken of late.”
These are people that bought into a very broad idea, asked no specifics and have no actual understanding of what the pay off is supposed to be other than more better and paradise. Whatever the reward is supposed to be, it is not on the horizon at the moment. Now they seem very embarrassed, using this hedging language and not admitting they chose a con man. In fact, they may double down with him just so people do not get the idea they were stupid to begin with.
“What did you do in the trade wars, daddy?” asks the GOP. “Well, child, my business died - that’s why we are homeless.” “Was the sacrifice worth it, Daddy?..Daddy?..Daddy………”
And just why would you send a bull into the china shop in the first place if the china shop is the economy? The Rump knows nothing about trade except that he gets all his swag and crap made there. People who earn a living in export industries like ag need to wake up and realize that despite his verbal love fest for Americans in the heartland he actually doesn’t know enough or care enough to actually help them.
Of course, “Disruption” in this context is just another way of saying “Let’s totally game the system by brazenly breaking laws/rules/norms to our advantage, screwing over people who have actually invested in the industry, all in the name of making a few bucks.”
Shock doctrine. Break everything, and the people with connections are in a perfect position to pick up the pieces. And there will be so much more money available for Real Americans once we do away with that double secret welfare system for Those People. (Which, well, they are financing the tax giveaways with a few hundred billion in cuts to medicaid…)
